Soldering iron nail dabs

So I finally got around to trying the thing of removing the metal pieces from a cheap soldering iron to expose the ceramic heating element. Once you do that, you put a dab of your concentrate onto a domeless nail and touch the heated soldering iron tip to it to vaporize it.

I'd have to say, this method seems superior in all ways to using a butane torch:

- once the soldering iron is heated up (~30 seconds), you can dab instantaneously. You're going to want to use a soldering iron stand to hold the hot iron.

- you have a high degree of heat control. Not only does my iron have a temperature control, but I can also control how close the heating element is to the concentrate, back off it it's starting to burn, etc.

- less coordination needed.

- You could use a glass nail without too much worry about heat stress.

- You don't have to set up for every dab. In fact, you can just dump a whole mess of concentrate on the nail and vape as little or as much as you want at a time. This setup makes me want some sort of super wide nail that I could pour a pile of fullmelt on.

- no butane refills

- no open flame

I've been looking for a soldering iron for exact same purpose.

Do all soldering irons have this ceramic element??

I've asked employees at both Home Depot and Harbor Freight, they both said "it's just metal"

I don't think they all use ceramic heating elements but it's common. The one I bought from amazon was the Hakko FX601.

No they do not ALL have ceramic elements. Some do indeed just use some type of metal (example Harbor's cheap one doesn't use ceramic) but the cheap one I got from Radioshack does indeed use a ceramic element. Very important my friend to make sure it is ceramic! The Radioshack one was only $30. Hellbillygeek is using the Hakko which is one of the better ones out there I hear. The Radioshack one I have though works nicely.

What do you think of the flavor Mig? It's been a while since I have used mine! I used it last when my concentrates used to taste not as pleasant so I think I need to bust it out now that my skills have improved! Hell back then i don't think it wold even full melt.. lol.. Ahhh those were the days.. Thanks to a place called RIU, that has changed

I also had an idea of putting a glass test tube around it, like a condom shall we say lol, so if the ceramic taste isn't pleasant, glass would be there instead to help.

I try to avoid to evaluate taste and smell. In my opinion, a ceramic heater is neutral and does not add anything, and does not diminish from the taste and smell.

Rare phenomenon for my practice - volcanic bombs escaped of air flow.

I have a Hakko with a variable heat control but use it for it's intended purpose.
It's been a good tool for a few years now, very dependable and heats up fast.

I do remember reading the instructions and they said something about
" do not disassemble for illegal purposes" or some shit and it made me wonder.

Of course, without this component, the tool does not bring you the desired benefits.

In my locations it is not sold in stores, I have to make it myself. Here are some samples.

Y do u still leave that metal sheath around ur ceramic heating element?
I’ve been dabbing this way for a few years and I completely expose my ceramic rod so I can just tap tap tap my material while either having it on a dome less or domed nail depending on ur preference, or putting it in one of those silicone little mini barrel shaped containers and sucking up the vapor with a straw/tooter. I prefer the latter method the vast majority of the time since it gets me the highest by a significant margin. I assume this is due to it not losing any potency via diffusion through water.

Imho there’s no competition, this is by a wide margin the best, most effective, and most efficient method of ingestion. It’s the most cost effective as well as the most efficient since you have so much control of how big a hit u want, thus whenever ur satisfied just stop making contact. It’s definitely a game changer every smoker should try out to see all the advantages for themselves.
