Soil - Simple and Easy Nutrients

Okay guys, I've been looking at the nutes threads and they almost always are for hydroponics. I myself am a new grower, so I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what kind of nutes I should get. I realize there are also plenty of others joining daily and most of the stuff on these threads won't help out a newbie. It's all more experienced people talk. So I thought I'd make a thread that focuses on Soil Nutrients, and have the basic stuff that you can buy at Wal-Mart or Lowe's, not things you have to order or buy from a hydro shop. I'm talking about nutrients I can put in the soil, and/or in the water. The simple basics. So anyone who can help shed some light on the situation, please do so. It would be greatly appreciated.

That gives so many different options, I'm trying to make it where this thread can be easily understood by anyone. Also, I asked for things from Wal-Mart, or Lowe's, or even Home Depot, because there are no garden stores, or small nurseries around where I live. Not everyone has the same luxuries as big cities with shops with all the bells and whistles. I do appreciate your input though.

Could you be a little more specific? Which ones are for which? Which ones you would use? Things like that would be really helpful.

Also, I just checked, and the closest ones were under the 100 mile range, which is a bit far. Which is the main reason I wanted simple things from Wal-Mart, etc.

You have internet access right? That means you can order anything right to your door.

The only problem with Jacks 20-20-20 is that it's lacking calcium and magnesium. Jacks plus some botanicare calmag and you're set. Dolomite lime works too but maybe it's application could be troublesome for a beginner.

I'd rather buy it in a store if at all possible. Where can I get botanicare calmag then? And use it throughout the entire grow? I have no idea when the first time to put nutes in, how much to put in at the beginning, how much to increase, how often to increase. Like I said, I'm a total noob, and I want this thread to be as beneficial to any new growers as possible. So please try to make posts with plenty of info in it. Not just "use this, with this" I need every bit of dumbfound information you can possibly think of. Like trying to teach a 6 year old to grow. And try to keep the smart remarks to a bare minimum.

Not trying to be a douche but I just hate looking at threads with hardly any good info and I want to change that.

No offense but the internets are filled with the 'how to' info you're looking for. You're being a bit lazy asking people to bring that information to you. Pick up a book, Mel Frank has one the people seem to like.

Look, I get you think I'm being lazy and all this blah blah blah crap. If you aren't going to help, then why post? :peace:

If I am trying to learn how to do something new, like solving some kind of math problem. It's a lot easier to be taught by people who already know how to do that problem, then trying to figure it out by yourself.

Here we have the same situation: I am trying to learn how to do something new, like grow marijuana. It's a lot easier to be taught by people who already know how to grow marijuana, then trying to figure it out by myself.

Thank you and good day.

Now that, that issue is hopefully resolved... I've done a bit of looking around, and found some things that look like they might work. All from advanced nutrients. Organic Iguana Juice Grow/Bloom and Big Bud. Anyone that has used these have anything to say about it? Be it good or bad, anything is appreciated.

Want to learn how to grow? I recommend you start here: Newbie Central

....or buy the book that I recommended.

Do you really think all-things-growing can be summed up in one thread? If so, you do have a lot to learn AND you've start said thread in the wrong sub-forum.

Start reading.

Since when is nutrients all things growing?

Exactly. I don't wanna have an argument with you. Weed is a peaceful plant, so let's keep the peace shall we?

I don't need someone to tell me how to put the seed in dirt and that I need some light on it. I've been to and seen the stuff is newbie central.

If you have no sufficient help for my nutrients, then just stay away from this thread. Don't retaliate to me about how I'm just being dumb, and try and be a smart-ass and show off. Just don't. It doesn't help anything. Now if you wanna give me a review on the nutrients I listed in my last post, then by all means, I'm all ears. But otherwise, please just click the back button and tell someone else how they are dumb and lazy. Smoke a blunt why don't you?

Honestly you just have to do a lot more research. People are just going to keep telling you that, like it or not.
And if you aren't able or willing to buy nutes from online, you have to realize you will be limited to "sub-par" nutes.

Go to Home Depot, Lowes, etc. and have a look-see. Try not to get time-release nutrients, as you can't really control the dosage.

You can't expect us to do the research for you if we don't already know what's available in stores, as some of us use nutes from online or in hydro stores!

Edit: And about how you said "most of the stuff on these threads won't help out a newbie", you must not be looking hard enough, because this site has helped me out A TON! (I am a total noob)

Of course its all from AN lol. You went from wanting something from walmart to the exact opposite end of the spectrum in one post, and yet you're telling the people trying to help you to get out? I probably shouldn't, but ill take a shot anyway.

First, stop ignoring the advice youre being given and asking for different advice on what a marijuana plant needs for food when you don't actually know what it needs, and therefore don't know the things you're being told you should learn. Not exactly a logical thought process IMO, just sayin. And not to come off too harsh here but if you're knowledge base is lacking basic macro and micro nutrient requirements, you need to read a couple books on plant physiology, maybe some basic biology, and you'll have a rounded concept of what a plant wants, when it wants it, and why. To try and "sum up" for you is to neglect all the reasoning and information that you're going to need to make your own judgement calls in the garden, and to help you avoid unknowingly dumping a pk boost (like big bud) and burning the hell out of your plants. Take it how you want, I've seen my share of people ask similar type questions and then hate on the people who tell them they're asking the wrong questions just like you've done, only to then need the answers to those questions within a few weeks anyway. You want someone to explain to you exactly how much cal/mag to use and when but you don't care to know how to tell if the plant needs it? Or what happens if you have too much? Or the different ways to get those nutrients? Just seems like you're looking for someone to give you their nutrient schedule and then hoping it works for you, even though you say you're not. I know it seems like that may be the thing to do if you're just starting out, but its not. Ask the people who have done it. (and heed their advice)

If you want to know what nutrients people are going to recommend, you should try to find out why they like them not just who uses them. REAL reasons, not 'it grows dank bud' or 'everything else sucked and this worked right away'. Their own application of the nutrient is subjective; the facts behind why it works to their preference is the OBJECTIVE information you want to find. ie nutrient source, ph stability, bioavailability, heavy metal content, salt build-up, etc. And nobody is going to find all that out for you and put it into a nice spreadsheet, it comes from hours and hours of reading nutrient labels, research journals, and a basic knowledge of biology and chemistry.

AN, what a joke you have a lot to learn buddy. Nutrients are nutrients, almost all of them will grow quality bud as long as you have a green thumb and some common sense to come out with quality bud yourself, nutrients brands don't mean success in the long run. You could run botanicare, fox farm, AN, GH, hell even jacks classic and come out with some frosty stuff, but if you don't learn jack about growing don't even bother. Pick up a book like the previous poster said and learn, get off the forums its full of disinformation anyway, learn for yourself before you make any judgments about growing or other peoples growing methods.

Try this fox farm ocean forest soil with 20% perlite
and your nuts use fox farm Grow big, tiger bloom, and big bloom. They sell them at amazon in a 3 pack for about $40. It's pricey but it's easy to use gives you great results and is all organic which is what you want to grow with.

But this guy is right nutrients are nutrients and if you follow the directions you should have no problem but if you have never grown before its not gonna be easy at all... You need to be dedicated to it and keep up with it and learn all the basics. I personally highly recommend fox farm products because almost all medical grows are grown with fox farm soil and nuts and I'm assuming you want to grow top shelf medical quality bud and not seeds and stems.

Well If you re first time for culitivation cannabis then just start with miracle gro's starter seed soil to plant the seed...with jiffy cup that sold at walmart or homedepot, then seedling is become too small for small jiffy pot then transplant to bigger pot, and just use Miracle Gro's 6 feed months potting mix soil, not ground soil ! So the process will make you learn and more important to read the plants.

If you know how to make organic ? like blood meal, bone meal, tone meal (K source), worm casting, or Garden Lime for buffer pH, they re sold at homedepot or walmart too...

or soilless (thats my recommend for you ) try to get miracle gro's enriched sphagnum peat moss and perlite...mix both of em it will be 50/50 ratio and add garden lime...can use miracle gro's tomatoes all the purpose, then your good. Or i will use alaska 5-1-1 its fish poop, it will be good to use for outdoor since its really stinky but it wont burn your plant at all unlike other fertilizers.
s
I guess thats it....wish ya a best luck for your grow !

happy gardening.
