Soil ph Fluctuation... causes

so last night i tested my ph. it was around 6.7-6.8.
she needed to be fed, so i got my jug of water tested the ph, it was around 6.6 added my nutes it sky rocketed to past 7, i adjusted to ph back down to around 6.5.

today after work i went to check my ph, and now they are all around 6-6.2 (5 plants)......

can someone explain how that works?? i would have thought if i had say a soil ph of 6.5 i add water ph of 6.5 it would stay at 6.5.

or say soil ph of 6.8 water ph of 6.4 then it would average the soil out to 6.6...... all just rough guesstimates.

please someone enlighten me... so i stop bouncing the ph all over the place on my girls.

thanks

This Ph hype is way overblown in soil. It's not even important; yeah, I said that. Unless your soil is considerably above neutral, it just plain don't matter. You're more likely to damage the plant by ph fluctuations than by leaving it just below 7. Consider the millions of acres of pot growing in huge fields in Mexico, Afghanistan and other countries; I bet they never even thought to check the ph and it makes it just fine.

ok. but why would it fluctuate so much after adding a water mixture with a ph quite close to what the soil was?

There may be lime in the soil or some other element that is stabilizing it; that's how it's normally done when growing in soil. That's how I've always done my soil grows.

My dad has some bone meal.. So I'm gonna sprinkle that on top. Then most it so it absorbs and see how that goes

the ph in the soil is low. one plant is 5.4 the rest are 6. one is suffeing from mag def. im assuming the mag is locked out due to low ph. as states in the sticky on this site.

I don't think it's low enough for lock-out; that is the perfect range for cannabis. Give your girls some Epsom salts for the Mg.

everywhere i've read was in the 5's for hydro and in the 6's for soil..... i just added epson salts to my water...

edit: since i JUST watered yesterday.... should i wait to water with the epson salt? or should i re water now? tomorrow etc??

Well before I saw ur post I decided to take my cats medicine syringe. 12 mls. I added about 60 mls of Epsom salt water, this morning it looks better.
