Would it be a waste to sog or scrog or.... what ever else its called with 200 w of cfl? Will chicken wire work for it? How close to the lady should I have the screen? I have looked at some threads but hard to tell how to set one up for myself. Would topping/fimming be better for a cab grow got 27 in. Vert space and 24 x24 in. Area. Or dones anyone know a good thread/guide I can read .

I just want to max what I can get out of what I have.:hump:

i've done both. the scrog looks cool and all but it's a lot of work and it ended up being a huge pain in the ass to water the plants in the back, and you can't move the plants which could be a problem for some. i'd just do low stress training on them. keeps a low profile and lots of bud sites.

I think scrog is a good idea when using CFL's. there is really no penetration with the CFL bulbs so the idea of an even canopy would work well. I believe 6" is about the max distance from the normal 150 watt equivalent bulbs but I am no exactly sure. I use CFL's for cloning and seedlings and they are usually about 6" to 7" away. are you using multiple bulbs or one big bulb?

I have 7 lights in there and can add / remove if need be.
With that many light sources you should be fine either way. grow the plant normally and use some of your lighting as side lighting to help with lower bud site production or go with a SCROG.

I was gonna go with a scrog in my grow to with CFL's but i decided with the availabilty to move the lights around i can just do that to hit the botom of the plant. And so far from what ive been reading is keep em short cuz of weak light pentration. i got about 145 watts on my 2 plants and about to run to home depot to pick up another 65 watts to add for the next light cycle and i'll be up to 200 watts and some 14000 lumens.

i love scrog grow i am building something at the moment that like a self contained scrog screen attached to each planter, so that watering isnt such a hassle and i would still be able to move them individually. some one already said it but its true the florescent only gets the upper area so if i trim right with a screen you will only have top colas. set the screen with about 6 to 18 inches for room for the light above( giving room to stretch depending on your strain). wait for the screen to be 50-70% full before switching to flowering. like i said i like scroging...lol

my next endeavor.
A chick I knew who grew had her husband build her a Recirculating DWC with scrog what he did was basically glue PVC piping frame for scrog on top of the bucket lids if you know how to weld plastic , even better.

Start with the basics in your first couple of runs. Just grow out some healthy plants and work on your own technique. Leave that scrog stuff for later when you have a little more confidence. Believe me you'll thank me later
