so i looked up about cutting, hanging and curing. When it was hanging and drying the flowers were just getting firm and dry, i read thats when you put it in a mason jar, and flip it around every day. Today i go to burp it and the buds are getting soft again? what should i do

Getting soft again is exactly what should happen. That is good and it means you did not over-dry them. But 666 is right, if they are *too* wet then they should sit out for a while. The only way to really know for sure is to get a humidity sensor. I bought these and love them:

Unless your buds feel wet to you, you should be fine. Open the jars daily for an hour for the next 2 weeks and just monitor them.

Sometimes just putting them in a paper bag for a few hours is all you need to do. Just depends how wet they are.

Don't over pack your jars either. Only fill them 1/2 to 2/3rds full and dont pack them in...loosely fit.

It's good that they became soft again. What you basically did was "sweat" the buds. this causes the moisture to be way more even so it dries more evenly.

Like everyone else is suggesting, you should lay them out to dry until the outside is dry again, then put them back in the jar. They'll probably be ready to smoke at that point.

If they are very wet I will use a paper bag too.

A paper bag also works well for your smaller buds instead of trying to hang them.... trim them off any large stems, fill a paper bag up to an 1/16 - 1/4 full. Leave the top of the bag open a little and gently mix them once or twice a day. When the small stems crack when you bend put them in bottles... if they feel too wet put em back in the paper bag again.

How long did you dry them for, and do you know the temp or humidity level of the drying room? You may have not dried them long enough, but that's an easy problem to fix if you haven't seen any mold yet.

Yes, they should get moist after you first put them in the jar. If you don't own and can't buy a hygrometer (Relative Humidity meter), just dump the buds in paper bag overnight, fold over once, and check them in the morning. Be sure to carefully separate the buds that are sticking together without handling them too much. When they're dry again, you can put them back in the jars. Check them 2 - 3 times a day and put them back in the paper bag for 8 hours ONLY IF YOU NOTICE THEY ARE STILL MOIST.

Once they dry and firm up, just burp the jars a couple times a day for a week, then burp once daily for another week and you should be good to go. You'll know the buds are staying dry in the jars when you spin them gently, you can hear them 'rattling around' in the jar. Moist buds won't make any sound, and you should be able to feel that the are still soft. If so, back to the paper bag.

You can buy cheap hygrometers at your local pet store for under $8. If you're worried they'll ask why you need one, they're sold to measure humidity in reptile tanks.
