sodium bicarbonate(baking soda...lol)to raise PH ????O.K.???

I have been using baking soda to raise my PH it doesn't seem to hurt anything but will it???Any input would be greatly apreciated I don't think it is harmful but I don't really know.

Simply put, no. Don't use sodium bacarbonate to raise pH. It's a weak base and raises sodium levels.

Use potassium hydroxide flakes. If it's soil, it should have some lime content mixed in.

Something like this works great. A little bit goes a long way. Don't eat the flakes. Don't put them in your eyes. 1g is a lot. It's lye, don't touch it.

You will raise the alkalinity (dif than the ph) and depending on your water you can make it too hard. You are also putting a lot of sodium in your medium which roots don't like.

Thanks for the info guts I guess I'll cut that out.Church is that something that has to be ordered or could I find it locally(home depot,lowes,or mabe a nurserey???

Most fertilizer pH up is based on potassium hydroxide, so you could get that. I just recommend flakes because that's how it comes pure. (it lasts a very long time)

I get mine online. Mine is from the science company, but whatever brand is the cheapest (With shipping) is fine. It's all the same thing.

It's also very high in potassium. (obviously)
