SoCal Medical Outdoor Grow (my 1st real grow)

So I finally pulled the trigger and got a couple 5 gal pots, some tera cota rocks for drainage, and a bag of FF Ocean Forest. I got two good looking clones from a local dispensary and planted them on 6/26. One of them is a Master Kush Strain (SoCal Master,) the other is 91' ChemDawg. Had to have one Indica and one Sativa.
I'll be the first to admit I don't know dick all, but what I have seen over the years and what I have learned from the local grow shop. Granted that is much much more than the average smoker, but not what I consider enough to say I know shit. I wish I could grow indoors, but finicially it is not an option right now, plus I live in Southern California. Why not use the light.
The things that I think I need help with is when to start giving nutes, and how much DIRECT sunlight do plants HAVE to have. I have had the time to shift them around the yard, but am getting ready to go out of town. My buddy is going to go and water a couple times while I am away. But no one will be able to move them around.
I fear I am getting a little long winded, but would appreciate any and all help, or advice. Or you can just tell me to shut up and read but I have been trolling for 3 days and haven't found answers to those specific questoins. I'm obviously going to use FF nutes. Thanks again.

P.S. Is late September a good time to expect Flowering?

Peace.....

Ok, since no one wants to chime in, I've been going to local shops digging for info, got the Cervantes book. Started my nutes on the bigger ladies, and praying that all my babies are females, looking good so far. They are getting around 14-15 hours of light, and gave them a little shot of nitrogen which is supposed to help induce femaling (is that a word) but I also wanted to put up some pics. I started the bigger ladies on 6/26 from clone, and the seeds popped on 7/6. My mix is A silicate mix, made by local guy called Atomic Wall, Botainicare CNS 17, Botainicare Sweet (flavorless), Super Food a few drops, then finish with MagICal. My PH in my res is around 6.5 i'm in soil with Hydroton on top and bottom FF Ocean Forest in the middle on the clones. My PPM is right around 1000. Going to start dropping nutes to get that down, but keep the same order. Here are some pics, any and all help would be much appreciated.:weed:

Thanks for the Reply man, I was thinking of adding some more of botainicares stuff to my nute mix, to see about bringing out a big harvest. What do you think does each little tweak really add that much. I haven't had any issues with nute burn, so I kinda wanna ramp it up a bit before they go into flower in a month or so. Whatcha Think?

I'm thinking of adding Liquid Karma, and Hydroplex, and a beneficial bacteria. I don't want to go over the top since this is really just an outdoor experiment, but if you guys say its worth it I'll do it. What do you think the most improtant of those are. BTW the Liquid Karma and Hydroplex are from botinacaire.

Looking good ogninja. Curious - how did you pick this type of system for an outdoor grow? I'm in SoCal and only have a balcony to grow on. I just put FFOF in pots, plop in a seed, add water and some nutes and that's it. You get WAY MORE sunlight than I do, so you're all good. Cheers.

I've heard that in SOCAL there are 4 grow seasons, ALL THE TIME!!!!!! My landlord just harvested a phat plant, and mine hadn't even shown sex yet. He let it grow through the winter. Since we don't really get a freeze here EVER, I don't imagine it would be hard to keep things going all the time. Its really more about light schedule. We will be at 12/12 in LA around Sept. 22, so if you start from clone now, you could still get a decent crop I would think.

As far as deciding this system, I basically have two hydro shops, friends that have been growing for years, some for less, and a couple of books and internet articles. The bubble bucket is pretty nice and saves me from mixing two different batches of nutes, The whole rig is less than 15 bucks and it saves hours in the long run. I originally wanted to go organic, but once talked out of that, I decided to use whatever I could to make SUPERPLANTS!!!! I figured fuck it, if 10 bucks here or 20 bucks there, can get me danker, stronger, fater nugs then I'll do it.

My wife thinks I'm nuts, she's like um I thought this was going to be a little backyard experiment, the last time she saw me checking pH, and PPM. Oh well, its all a learning experience, and i'm a sponge right now. Thanks for the props guys, really appreciate it.

I don't think it would be overkill, just start at 1/2 strength then up it to 3/4...see how your plants handle it, let them tell you if they like it ya know?

Thanks for the Reply, decided to go with That root shooter, instead of Hydroplex, especially once I read it was basically chicken shit, the guy at my shop also told me that I really didn't need to use the Hydroplex if I'm using R/O water which I am. I am going to add the liquid karma into the mix, I hit them with the Great White Shark yesterday, and Will report back in a week or so.

I was told to get Clearex, so flush between Veg and Bloom nutes. Is this step necessary or do you think i'm just wasting nutes, and time?

Awesome i will have to more reasearch about this. I would love to do another grow now for a winter crop but was afraid of no yield lol.

I am in the 909 951. you close?

Noticed a little burn on the tips of The Chemdawg, may cut the mix on that one, but the Master Kush, seems to be loving it....going to cut down everything on the mix, as I don't want any "hot" smoke. But I'm not affraid to push it to the limit of it. I'm in SOCAL, and think most of what I puff on the reg, is Hydro, that hasn't been flushed properly or even a rushed curing process. So I can't wait to see how this compares to what I'm used to. Burn Big Boys!!!!!:joint:

I'm a little closer to the coast in the 323, but I don't have to worry too much about the Marine Layer, it burns off a little early for me to worry. My pops used to have a place out in Palm Springs. Riverside, is right in the middle, I think you'd be fine for a winter crop as long as you pull them in on the super cold nights.

Did a MASSIVE flush today, about to switch to one batch of 50/50 veg/flower then going full flower. Going to add root shooter in, in a few weeks. Has anyone used this? Or anything like it. Rough tough fellas....:joint::hump:
