I horribly despise AN!! I wouldn't shit on one of their products if it was given to me for free.....They are a shady company that doesn't do good on their "100% Money back guarantee" and they Split every single aspect of a fertilizer into 15 different bottles and charge $700+ for the entire line. Noobs eat up AN like candy thinking it is the bees knees.

I will agree with you on that! AN and Big mike can rot in a ditch. All they want is money, they don't care about science or improving methods. They just had a genius marketing idea that pot heads and new pot head growers eat up while AN laughs their way to the bank!
*sigh* I am a noob. I fell for the AN bull. I have had about six successful crops though. 10-15oz. Being a noob though, I don't have the experience to get around it. Wish one of you would create a noob-proof recipe. Alas, I'm a snake oil consumer. Cheers! happy. growing.

Noob proof recipe. Quit reading meters and hype and learn to read your plants. Treat your plants the same as your mothers and grandmothers treated their house plants and gardens. For most of us I bet there is a lot of success to be looked back upon...and I seriously doubt any of them shopped at the hydro store...

Quit reading meters? Like a PH meter or e.c meter? Maybe not for soil but I think that's pretty helpful gear in hydroponic growing?

I have followed this thread for quite a while. Thanks for the info. Gone thru the nut. wars and have gone to one product all the way. GReen as a xmas tree start to finish.

Sunleaves Peruvian Seabird Guano
High in the nutrients needed for every stage of plant growth, Sunleaves Peruvian Seabird Guano (12-11-2) is an excellent all-purpose fertilizer. All-natural with no chemical additives, Peruvian Seabird Guano is safe for use indoors and out. Nothing like it for accelerating growth, Peruvian Seabird Guano is pelletized for water solubility with less mess. amend plants monthly and water normally.
Sunleaves Peruvian Seabird Guano, Sunleaves Peruvian Seabird Guano, Sunleaves Peruvian Seabird Guano, Sunleaves Peruvian Seabird Guano.. Is this an attempt at advertisement dude lol

How many of us had mothers or grandmothers grew hydroponically? Raise your hand...
Knowing how and what a meter means. And actually understanding what a plants telling you takes experience. You just dont jump on that as a new grower...

edit: guess I should have said grew/grow and have/had. almost forgot its 2012...

Yes of course. I just mean when it comes to hydro there is a little less room for error so it pays to know exactly whats in your mix so you don't fuck your plants. Especially for noobs like me :)

I crawled. I read like a mother fucker for years about growing dreaming of my first go at it. There is nothing wrong with a bit of basic kit like a ph meter for the sake of convenience. I don't think it really warrants discouraging people.

I have been all through this thread, went and did some research and now I'm back to share what I've learned/seek direction and counsel. I have heard great things about Bloom enhancers like Bud Blood, Bud Ignitor, Bushmaster, the list goes on. Bud Blood guaranteed analysis is (0-39-25) and $129 when bought in 10.5oz pkg. I spoke with a representative at A.N. and was assured that there were no PGR's in Bud Blood. (Bushmaster has Paclobutrazol) Any product that contains PGRs must indicate it on the label along with appropriate warnings/indications for use. The A.N. guy told me straight up,"It's [Bud Blood] just a P-K boost." So here's what I'm thinkng: Why not buy Soluble potash from someone like; [ http://www.kelp4less.com/shop/soluble-potash-fertilizer/?add-to-cart=variation&product_id=68#UMdTE-T7K8A ] (30lbs/$29.50) and phosphoric acid [ http://www.amazon.com/Gallon-Phosphoric-Acid-Grade-Concentration/dp/B0039CWTEQ/ref=pd_sbs_indust_5 ] and for 80 bucks you never have to buy that shit again. People are boasting 20-30% increases in yield. It would seem that this stuff would more than pay for itself the first time you use it. (probably why they get away with charging an arm and a leg) Here's what I'm unclear about, and this is the reason, Uncle Ben, that I chose your post to post this in, I'm most interested in your opinion as you are the only one I've seen post on DIY nutrients.

Q1) adding phosphoric acid will lower the pH so how do you give such a boost while maintaining your optimal uptake parameters?
Q2) how would go about mixing/applying such a program? Q3 to come. Flowering enhancers that contain PGRs are commonly applied once at the beginning of the flowering cycle and once at the 5th week of flowering. So..
Q3)Would a P-K boost campaign like I am describing be applied in the same way? Or since a PGR is not present, would it be better to give the P-K boost all through the flowering cycle? (excepting flush week of course) I do plan on conducting a controlled experiment and sharing the results but it would be good to get as much info and experienced advice as I can, before I start. Bring on the comments boys and girls and especially Uncle Ben if you read this, I know you have some exp with DIY nutes.

Note: My systems are drip-feed/rock-wool and ebb-and-flow/rock-wool but I am curious to hear your thoughts on methodology for soil and soil-less as well.
The only "boost" you need is what is required to keep the leaves healthy until harvest.

Just to re clarify because no one really answered my question. Will it be ok to switch from bloom to grow nutrients? I know it's the same thing just in different ratio's but will it cause any undue stress to my plants?

No stress.

Your questions suggest you need to read some more. For example, you use the terms 'bloom' and 'grow'. It's meaningless. What is a 'grow' food to most is a 'bloom' food to me. What are the NPK values, what is your micros profile?

Want an excellent food that can be used from start to finish? http://www.jrpeters.com/Products/Jack-s-Classic/Citrus-FeED.html Time for a quiz.....why would I recommend this fertilizer?

Get a book or two on indoor gardening and get away from these pot forums. The "great things" you hear about usually do more harm than good.

hey UB that citrus FeED lists that theres "High nitrate nitrogen, moderately high potential acidity and no urea"

but the analysis on the left says 3% nitrate nitrogen and 15% urea. whats the deal?

Good ? Clown. And my answer to the quiz is its sulphur content and low P ratio among other things. Sulphur is often overlooked especially during early flower/fruit set....

I think the whole guarantee thingee is a misprint. Not only the urea but also I think the sulfur % is stupid too high. Normal is .5% . I think they meant Calcium.

V&B beats this by all get out but sells for $20/lb!! ouch

I thought powdered nutes like that didn't usually have calcium

I looked at several of their lines and no calcium. So I guess its on purpose.

One funny thing though, Take away some urea and the N-P-K values are that of Sensi Bloom PH Perfect !!
