So When Cali Legalizes It In November.

california is going to vote on legalizing weed and regulating it basically like alcohol - children may not have it, but adults can use it responsibly.. each home can grow a 25' x 25' garden - growers and distributors can buy a license like for alcohol..
Fucking amazing, I never knew that until now! That really would give Cali an unique place in the union, I guess.

As with just about everything else the voters in CA try to decide, it will run into the worst of federal scrutiny. There will be some judge that will agree to hear arguments after issuing an injunction. We will sit for YEARS while all the info is heard. In that time, the fed will be able to get their ducks in a row to effectively cease all federal monies coming into the state. CA is about as bankrupt as it can get and the legislature will cave.

It WILL force the issue though into the general population and so the discussion will become loud. It may bolster other states to follow suite and we will get the same sort of action that followed Prop 215. More states will begin to flex their "rights" muscle and eventually the fed will have to stop the 80 year war on Cannabis.

Just my thought on it. I believe that we will see it legal inside of 10 years, but WE THE PEOPLE will have to force the issue.

this is an interesting avenue because the state legislature may not have much it can do, can they?
it's a voter initiative and becomes part of state law
this make a very different scenario with threatening the state, congress would be threatening the state voters, that may have consequences congressional reps may not like
the court issue is another very different deal
for one thing, the supreme court has already ruled on state MMJ laws
they didn't strike it down, though they affirmed the federal government's right to enforce its law
which was pretty bogus, but creates some precedent

This is interesting, and as with all things you just need follow the money, so this is a valid scenario.

I would love to see California say, "You know what ok, keep every bit of federal funding your crooked fists can hold onto and we'll just hold onto every red cent made by any cannabis in this state!" They would all of a sudden become a mecca in the none world of cannabis enjoyers, like a PG13 Amsterdam offering every walk of life a chance to partake without the "paranoid" aspect of the whole thing. I wonder how many billions more they'd get then they would have from the government?
