So what the heck should I use for a grow box/space?

I've got pretty much most of my grow figured out. My biggest ordeal has been deciding what I will actually grow in.
The space I will be using is my closet. This leaves me with about approx. 4' x 2.5' x 5' for my grow box or grow tent.

I'm fairly good with wood and have many wood working tools in my garage. I could build a simple plywood box, though honestly I'm not sure if I want to do that. My resulting box would be hefty, bulky and not portable at all. And if it were spotted in my closet it would stick out badly.

I've also considered making a grow tent out of one of those portable closets made out of piping and cloth. Though I'd have to track down some light proof and smell proof material to recover the whole tent with, and I don't know what I could find locally that would work for that.

I've also thought about the rubbermaid setup, using two 44gal. containers on top of each other.

I'll be using the 150w HPS, and probably get a second one soon after. I want to grow 3 plants at a time.


I need something simple and cheap but effective.... So many choices. Any thoughts?

you could check out some thrift stores for cheap furniture you could transform, i got a baby crib from goodwill today. just finished setting it up

heh. We have a couple of those sitting around. I was just eying one up yesterday, thinking about transforming it. But than I came to my senses, as its just not stealthy enough for our place. First and foremost our inquisitive young children have to be in the dark as far as this is concerned. I guess we could always homeschool them. lol

to the poster, I use a homebox grow tent. I'm not sure if its any better or any worse, but I'm not sure if it would be good in a closet as I believe mostly the temps inside the grow tent rely on the ambient temperatures of the room its inside of. So best to have it inside a larger room. I've seen quite a few tents that would fit those specs though all over ebay. I'm sure theres a darkroom dr60 or something that would fit as well.

I use rubbermaids/sterilite as well, but just for early vegging stage. I haven't delved into stacking them, although its not much more complex. I love the stealth nature of them. They are for more stealthy than a grow tent/wardrobe type setup in my opinion.
