I am helping my father with a medical grow.. It's a fun new hobby for both of us.

Anyways, he's convinced to only use his 400w hps he just bought.
I have a very nice cfl setup that I use for vegging. So far it's working perfect on a few bagseed I started. It puts out about 350 watts not sure how many lumens. He thinks it will be clutured in there but it's a pretty large area.

Shouldn't I start with cfl then use hps later in flowering n avoid stretch?

the stretch isnt necessarily a bad thing it give the plant room to put fat buds, a 400 watt HPS will kik the shit out of CFl's in vegging and flower. if ur worried about spending the 25-30 bucks a month to run the 400 watt then go with the CFL's, but other wize i would run the HPS.

cfls are better for seedlings and clones i use cfls for my veg and a 600 watt hps for flower, i also vegged before with my hps and it made my plants really short and stalky and tight nodes, and the flower strech wasnt that bad either, i would just se the 400 watt for veg, and save some on the bill, unless u intend to use the 400 just for flower and veg ubder the cfls till ready to throw under the 400

yea don't use cfl's if you have a grow light.unless you like adding more days to the grow.Hope you and your dad enjoy good days growing!oregon024

if u can keep the temps down of course, u should mainly line the bottom of the plants to help the lil popcorn buds blow up a lil, and mix the spectrums too (7000k, 2700k,..ect) im sure ur girls will love u right back.

I have a zilla UVB like 359 watts of 3500k cfl and brand new 400hps, it has 6inch exausting not sure what the fan is but it runs pretty quiet and cool so far.

I just got my canna nutes n ff

waiting on 9 beans
