also i was checking the site and was looking at the flowering periods, how many weeks is considered a medium flowering period and a long flowering period, was looking and couldnt find any info. i was thinking medium is maybe a 9weeks or so and long is maybe 12weeks?

I would suggest an autoflowering plant for the first, they are just simple and fast to see what is going to happen with your grow first hand. As a plus they are pretty tolerant to mistakes.

But of those i would go for red dragon. Medium height, decent flower time(9 weeks or so), and quality reward.

how much room have you got?

also what light? 400w im guessing a hps. i would pick up a ceramic metal halide bulb(CMH) for your veg phase or if your comfortable getting rid of (or selling/keeping as backup) your hps bulb just run the CMH through flower for some nice frosty buds.

If you can only have one light most defiantly keep the HPS. Flowering requires more intense light and also from the 650 nm are of the light spectrum which is best provided by the HPS, CMH are great for vegging but as the plants do not require as intense of light to veg a HPS will do just fine even though the 450 nm wavelength spike is not as high as the CMH. No diss on metal halide but I've tried both for vegging and flowering and I'm sure of the results. (Best of both worlds get a fixture that can be fitted with a MH or HPS bulb) Oh P.S to the original question, White Widow is fun :)

eh Hps is only what 5k lumens more (400 vs 400) and its where? all spikes in the area we need them least?

The only thing i hate about my CMH is that i am bound to a horizontal setup with this bulb. The bulbs are either horizontal or vertical. The choice would be nice.

Other than that much faster and fuller veg, faster to flower, more resin(sooner too). at the cost of more leaf in the bud. Not bad really i mean its a 400 so either way buds are not entirely optimal anyway.

Ideally if you have the means, i would go 400w MH or CMH paired with a 600 Hps

oh wiat sry i forgot to give everything, my fault. i have a 400w switchable ballast, i have a 400w mh and 400hps bulb. which i use the MH for veg and HPS for the flower.the room i have is probably about 6ft H, 5ft L, 4ft W, but not using all the space. the bulbs i have are the hortiflux super blue i think for MH and Hortiflux Super HPS. these seeds will be 3rd grow, going to use hempy buckets for them as really enjoy using them. thx to the responses, thinking i may just but the left over seeds in a ziplock bag or something and sutff them in a drawer, until next grow.

Here are some pics to back what I've said about Metal Halides promote foliage growth and High Pressure Sodium promote Budding/Fruiting/Seeding. (P.S pics show wavelength spikes of HPS and MH, plants require light from the 650 nm are for flowering and the 450 for vegging. The other chart shows how much more light is needed for flowering. :) )

arent the 1st 2 pics mentioning wave lenght, but isnt that also the ccolor of the rays in the spectrum of the different type of bulbs in order to meet the different requirements of the stages. the MH i use have enchanced blue spectrum and my HPS has enchanced red spectrum, i beleive, dont have to the boxs infront of me.

Is it maybe the other way round ? HPS with enhanced blue and MH with enhanced red those would both be good bulbs. Also the plant requirements are in my last post.

medium is approx 9-11 weeks, long is over 12 weeks.

Grow the strain you least care about first. Just practice around. I will say most sativas are pretty hard to grow your first time since they tend to take longer to fruit. I'd grow which ever one is a hybrid of indica and a sativa.
