So, I got a job

Education holding you back? May want to elaborate on this one. As a current college student I'm getting paid almost double what my friends who didn't go to college get paid.

Unfortunately blaming Reagan isn't going to make the economy better... damnit! Nor is stating that Obama is/isn't going to do anything. Sad Panda times indeed. You may also want to elaborate on why you believe Reagan screwed you.
They are parrots they can't explain why they feel that way. Some Lefty told them that,,,,so they repeat it
Blaming Regan, WOW,,,

guess who i learned it from? the same guy who keeps dodging my question: what positive effects with respect to wages and jobs have come from a 4.6% tax decrease on millionaires?

go ahead and get around to that anytime you want.

the extra tax revenue funds domestic social programs.

there, ya happy? now tell me what positive effects we have seen from this (supposedly) temporary tax decrease.

you are trying to put words in my mouth, trying to make a caricature out of me. it ain't working, because i never said it an i don't believe it. what it does do is illustrate and crystallize jut how simplistic your feeble thought process is.

my assertion, which i will restate is that we have witnessed shrinking wages and zero job growth despite increased productivity since those tax cuts were enacted. caricaturize that, einstein.

in case "yyu" haven't noticed, nasayers and pessimists like you shouted the same thing when clinton did it.

23 million new jobs ensued.

that would be pretty tough considering our whole catch is that all of our plants are locally grown. you are really on fire tonight.

now stop dodging my question, kettle.
wow, you are smart.....you catch all my spelling errors that i dont even bother to look for. good for you. now back to reality.

YOU are the one that is bithcing (spelled it wrong, did you catch that?) cuz you arent making the same wages that you were years earlier.

then you think that the rich should pay more taxes. are those taxes helping you?

well lets take a look. if your boss's business makes X profit and the govt takes 4.6 percent of X that means he makes less. therefore he has less to pay employees, less to put back into his business, less to buy newer equipment, LESS TO PAY YOU.....HELLO ANYONE IN THERE.

you are mad cuz your boss isnt getting raped to fund some stupid ass sitting in some office, pretending to work for the social good.

you gladly give away money (your bosses) to some entity that is telling you, your boss is a bad man for not paying 4.6 percent of his money.

hey dummy, your boss uses that 4.6 percent to pay employees and to help send his kids to college. if they took every penny he earns, it isnt going to increase your paycheck. just the opposite. but you cant see that because you are programed to believe that somehow your boss is evil and should be taxed more.

our education system sucks. your attitude is accepted and encouraged at those wonderful public schools we pay for.

hey folks, send your kids to private school so they dont end up braindead.

WoW someones angry today...First off profit is what is left over after expenses are paid...Employees are expenses that are paid before profit is realized ok got that?

If you went to private school then your doing one heck of a job convincing me to not send my kids there ever!!!!

excellent spelling.

but you still have not answered my question:

with respect to job creation and shrinking wages, what positive effect has the temporary 4.6% tax decrease on millionaires had?

you keep going on this whole rant about how if my boss has to pay 39.6% instead of 35%, he or she can't do this or can't do that. it would seem to follow using your very same logic, that if they pay 35% instead of 39.6%, he or she can do this or can do that.

so, with this tax decrease in place, where has it gone? has it fueled job growth? let me check....nope. ZERO net job growth since their enactment. has it trickled down to employees in the form of growing wages, ot ones that at least keep pace with the increased cost of living? let me check....nope. wages have SHRUNK, despite increased employee productivity.

so the 35% rate hasn't produced any jobs, it hasn't lead to better wages...where has it gone?

Shouldn't you be at work? Show me a Politician on the national scene who is dirt poor. Pretty sure most o those politicos get to take advantage of said tax incentives.

Ok UB you are almost there. The guys who get hammered with taxes have taken the money and closed their facilities and moved them overseas to.... guess what comes next.... MAKE MONEY.

Unfortunately many of us don't have the financial ability to do so. But the ones who can, do.

You seem to think tax raises happen in a vacuum. They don't. Ask obamas new czar immelt. He moved at least 35000 of those jobs offshore. Until the USUS makes it attractive to make things here it will continue to happen and the sheep will continue to scream about raising taxes on the rich.

i love seeing a shit storm when i return to a thread..... to answer the only question i really care about from this now is how would a degree have held me back. I personally work in the mortgage industry doing specialized database work now. I started with a semiconductor company and learned all the coding i needed there. I also worked in sales at that time with the semiconductor company and learned my best people and communication skills there. In my new industry they honestly don't hire people with degrees. We are picked because we have some sort of knowledge or skills that help that company out. I was picked for my manager skills, work ethic, references, and life experience. I told my boss what position i wanted within the company and we made it happen. When your looking to make a decent amount of money legit you show initiative and skill to make it. You don't "interview" for your dream position at your work you find a way to CREATE it. I've created my end position at 3 seperate companies so far. I get my foot in the door, find the problem they have and fix it. Go get some ambition if you cry over a $10 an hr job your selfish. People would literally murder you for the chance at that. Count your blessings, think outside the box, and pay it forward and life alone will be the thing that gets you the career you want..... NOT A DEGREE.

Like Thatcher so perfectly said it... the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money .

Somebody has been blowing smoke up your ass, that's for sure. First, your business is under the 250K limit, so you would have gotten the tax breaks anyway, and so would everyone else have gotten that tax break on the first 250K, even the super rich guys.

And sorry pal, you are the schmuck with smoke up his ass, I have and continue to live this as this is where my family makes it's money. You are wrong and in case you are too blind to have seen it, that whole 250k thing started sliding down lower and lower almost before it was out of our community organizer's mouth. Wake up and join the real world. That is if you feel like getting off of my dime and actually finding a job.

OK asshole, you are making this personal. The 250K thing was real and actually, before the bill was passed, they were trying to raise it to 500K or a million+. I don't know what world you live in, but I'd guess it would have "Asshole" somewhere in the nomenclature, By By. BTW asshole I'm retired, don't need no stinking job.

and it pays less than what i earned in high school. no benefits.

let's be thankful for those reaganomics, trickling down upon us all!

my dad also earns less than what he did 12 years ago. my mom's wages are the same, so she also earns less than she did 12 years ago when you factor in cost of living.

let's all give a huzzah for those tax cuts for the wealthy!

someone please explain the seemingly irreconcilable enigma of how employee productivity has increased, taxes have decreased, yet wages have remained stagnant or dropped while achieving zero net job growth.
I will refrain from making any snarky comments and simply say "Congratulations!"

I think it is awesome that you found something after all this time.

Low pay is better than no pay.

Trust in yourself. Things will start looking up.

Hell, you're working again. They already are.

hell, i've been waiting for you. you better not have been out furthering that education of yours. i can't imagine a sharper version of you.

let's hear some snarky comments. it should be clear that controversy is the reason why i started this thread.

feel free to explain to me why i shouldn't expect "trickle down" economics to eventually trickle down, as it was so told in the TESTAMENT OF REAGAN.

i see that you still lack the testicles necessary to answer a simple question.

to rephrase, i thought that tax breaks for the wealthy were supposed to create more jobs, so why has there been zero job growth since their enactment?

i thought giving tax breaks for the wealthy was supposed to trickle down to the average joe like myself, so why have wages shrunk despite increased productivity?

answer the fucking question already, shit bird.

There now I feel better. Carry on. :eyesmoke:

I'm not a nerd by nature, but this networking stuff is fascinating. And because I am approaching it with what the Buddists call a 'beginner's mind,' I am running circles around the industry guys. Including a couple of clowns who gave us the impression they already knew everything, but never bothered to get certified. In fact, one of them dropped out already because he was getting his ass kicked.

Actually I did very well last semester. So well I decided to add a class because obviously I was not challenged enough. And I might decide to stay another year if the economy stays squishy.

But wish me luck because if my plan does not work out I will be forced to do something I have been putting off for years. Something that I thought I wanted to do when I was younger, but now do not want to do: Go to law school.

I have earned and lost one fortune since I graduated from college. I may be broke, but I am not poor by any stretch of the imagination. I am just not liquid. But I have no doubts I will earn it all back, and then some, one way or the other.

As far as trickle-down is concerned, it is not really debatable. It is a proven economic principle.

A rising tide raises ALL boats.

I'm sorry that you took a pay cut but guess what? so did most people in the US. Tax cuts for the rich didn't get us here. Overspending and not watching ALL of our elected officials on BOTH parties involved is how America came to be this way. I took a 2/3 pay cut and had to change out my lifestyle some but not much. I don't teeter on the edge of my budget and had plenty stowed away for a rainy day instead of living paycheck to paycheck. I will say that being debt free helped out but i honestly got out of debt while being in the middle of the first of 3 layoffs in the last 3 years. I'm sick and tired of the boohooing from everyone that "I can't find a decent wage waaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!" You know what I did? I put on a suit and went out for a week until i found a job. Honestly I am 25 and have my stuff together regardless of what ANY politician does to the economy I make my own honest wage by dictating my work. If times are down and even retail is not cutting it hours or pay wise if i got laid off again i would honestly go put my own 2 hands to work like they did back in the day and MAKE some money. Not complain that the wages aren't fair...... In conclusion go suck a lemon since your such a sourpuss.

P.S. I have no college degree but honestly I think it would have held me back.
People like you are why change never occurs. You just do not believe it is possible.

You are exactly the type of person corporations want working for them, so if you like getting bent over, by all means, continue.

Ultimately, talking about how American workers are underpaid and corporate CEO's are OVERPAID is a FACT. It is not whining just because someone observes that shit is wrong......

Tons of businesses are getting away with hiring people for less money, because folks are desperate.

And if you cannot agree that corporations profits hardly ever trickle down, then you are a fool. This is why wages have gone to crap, too many corporations. Do you know what the CEO gets paid to do? Increase profits and investment return for the investors. If he makes the investors tons of money, he gets a huge bonus. So this same CEO is the one faced with giving production line employees a raise, or increasing investors return, and WHAT DO YOU THINK HE CHOOSES? He constantly chooses the investors as the beneficiary, not the production line workers.

Just go look up the amount production line workers made in the early 70's compared with the CEO's of their companies at that time. I think the CEO's made like 70 times the amount of money the production line workers made, which is still a great living.....Today, it is something like 450 times the amount a production worker makes.

Used to be that a mechanic could have his wife at home and a couple kids and make ends meet. Now, you need 2 incomes, and revolving credit to just make ends meet.

And I guarantee, I have put more work in than YOU (25 year old blow hard) and you would never think about calling me lazy to my face. Because you would actually have to deal with the consequences of that mouth.

Have fun getting bent over, while the rest of us try to avoid it.

Seems to me that YOU are losing the debate, because you cannot answer any questions. Why don't you explain your vast knowledge of trickle down to us, and try not to make it an obvious cut and paste. lol.

Jeff's idea of trickle down is when Reagan pulled out on him, and some poop trickled down his leg.
