What is good viewers? First off I would like to wish everybody a happy upcoming new years, and I hope everyone had a nice & enjoyable christmas.

So, about two weeks ago I decided to start growing. I am a long time weed smoker and I feel it is time to start doing my own grow. I spent a lot of time reading and reading and watching videos and more reading. I have decided to take the CFL path.

I live in a top/bottom duplex house. I live upstairs. I decided to do my grow inside a closet. The dimensions are roughly 3.5ft W, 3ft D, and 7ft H.

I am lucky to have a 36in by 16in door inside my closet, which leads to the attic, and I have taken advantage of this. I have used a styrofoam panel, duct tape, a DIY carbon scrubber (zen model), and an air duct tube to fit that door frame like a glove, and I will use it to vent the air into the attic(cold midwest attic).
I purchased a 36 Gallon rubbermaid container to keep my plants inside of. The top (lid) of the rubbermaid container has been fitted with 3 power strips that have been strapped to it with zip ties. The 3 power strips lead to a timed surge protector that is zip-tied to the top of the container(on the outside).
The Lid of the Rubbermaid is hanging from the top of the closet with chainlinks (to adjust the height accordingly).
I am still waiting on 2 small fans I purchased off Amazon.com to arrive so I can attach the vent to the container.
I am currently using 6500k CFL lights for the veggie stage, and once I begin flowering, those will be replaced with 2700k CFL's.
I will be growing 2 or 3 plants at a time (I haven't decided yet) and during the flowering stage I expect to have a minimum of 12 CFL's, roughly 325 watts on the plants. If I grow 3 plants I will add a few more bulbs.
I am sooooo blessed to have a hydroponics store roughly 1/2 a mile from my house. There I purchased..

Foxfarm organic soil.
Foxfarm Tiger Bloom.
Foxfarm Big Grow.
Foxfarm Big Bloom.

I am excited because as I progress and become more experienced, I will use this store to purchase more sophisticated lighting systems and other accessories. (they even have ona's there).
As far as the herb goes, I used Nirvana to order 5 feminized "Snow White" beans. I placed the order about 4 days ago, so I am expecting them within the next 7-10 days.
In the mean time I have germinated 1 bag seed from some nice buds I came across a little while back.

I look forward to updating this journal daily, and I hope I will get some followers throughout this grow Below are pictures I have taken to show you the setup I got going on. If you have comments, suggestions, or questions, feel free to post.

Does anyone have any suggestions on bean strains for down the road? Maybe a general overview of superior closet growing strains I could use? Or has anyone who's grown Snow White in the past have any heads up's for me?

Since you r closet is a lot taller than wide I'd get a sativa that won't get too bushy. Maybe stick like 4 plants in there and drop a HID bulb down vertically in the middle.

I'm scribed.

That's a pretty good idea bro, utilize my space to the best of my abilities. Wouldn't it get pretty warm in there?:weed:

Well if you could take the top of your tent off you could prolly stick a 600 watt in there. Reflectors trap a lot of heat. Vertical bulbs no hoods run a lot lower. You should test it out of course first before you start plants in there.Youd get 360 degrees of direct light and you plants ill like it a lot.

Nvm your in a closet I forgot hehe...youd need an exhaust fan.

yup yup, trapped in a closet rofl. Hey man do you think it's a good idea to give 36 hrs of no light when going to flowing, what's your opinion on that, and light schedules.

Reducing light will always effect the plant negatively. Some people will cut the lights for 36 hours at the end of flowering to increase resin production. Well this is true however it cuts yield down when the plant swells the most. See the plant is dying and then in a last ditch attempt will produce more trichs to better catch pollen to procreate and further the species. I don't cut light ever. I go from 20/4 to 12/12.

The only product that I've heard of lowering transition period is Bud Blood from AN. I have not tested this product...yet and so cannot comment on it. In 2 months I will hehe. So ya...

As for light cycles I think 24/0 is a waste. People claim 33% increase in growth compared to 18/6 however it isn't that high of a percentage. The increased growth is mainly the two extra hours. After that light saturation comes in and light input vs growth flatlines. Plants need a break and cannot continue with photosynthesis for all of the 24 hours in a day.

So I made a couple of stops today and I purchased a few items. I grabbed a small spray bottle for $1 just to have (I don't think i'll be using it too much).
I randomly stumbled across a weatherstrip seal @target. It's used in homes on doors and windows to close gaps (light seepage through door).
I also purchased heavy duty mounting tape (double sticky foam tape).

I am still waiting on my two fans I ordered online, in the mean time I've wired a CPU fan and will mount that on my exhaust vent. I want to get a feel for what way I will set it up.

It's really cold outside, and the humidity is really dry. I have a bowl of water, and a shot glass of water in the rubbermaid...

...Any ideas on how to increase the humidity? I did see a humidifier @ target for $26, I'm thinking of purchasing one incase I cannot find any DIY methods.

Plant update... lol nothing yet with the test seed. Planted the bean yesterday in the afternoon after she [yes she :weed: ] germinated and popped her tail out.

Question for an experienced grower. does snow white respond well to LST? What's the highest yielding method?

Purchased a 4'' incline duct fan and insulated ducting. I have completed the setup with some pictures to come. I need to go to the store and return a few extra parts.

The inline fan is fairly quite, and it seems to do a good job at sucking out air, I smoked a bowl and blew the smoke in the closet and checked it, and it checks out.

It is not really noisy at all, I mean you could be standing there right outside the closet and unless your listening for it, you wont notice a thing.
I am off to buy some mylar as well so I can line things with it.

OH, and my bean sprouted today, I'll make sure to post pictures of everything when I get back home later on.

Well, i'm going to hold off with the pictures until tomorrow, I am rearranging a few things, and it'll look a lot better. I am going to be using different chains and mess around with this sturdy piece of sheet metal and auto windshield reflectors. I will make a type of hood/ballast. If it turns out well I will replace my rubbermaid top with it, allowing a more sturdy, reliable, more reflective hood without retaining as much heat, that has been my problem. stay tuned tomorrow
