Snocap's, quasi-sog, perpetual harvest, closet grow: Hindu Kush

Well this will be my third grow so far and my first grow journal. I will be growing in a closet divided into a flowering chamber and a veg chamber. The flowering chamber is on the bottom measuring 3'4"L x 2'10"D x 4'6"H. The vegetative chamber is right above and measures 3'4"L x 2'D x 1'5"H. Above this i have a shelf which holds the ballast and some other equipment. Now for some specifics about the grow.

Genetics: Hindu Kush (10pk)
Veg chamber lighting: 2 65w 6500k cfl's w/ reflectors 7500 lumens each ($8.50 at costco)
Flower chamber lighting: 400w hps, digital lumatek ballast, hydrofarm daystar 6" ac hood (50,000 lumens)
Ventilation: 306 cfm Active air 6" inline fan, pulling air from flower chamber through ac hood and up into the attic
Circulation: 4"w x 12"h oscillating 3 speed tower fan, PC fan in veg chamber
Nutrients: Fox Farm Big Bloom, molasses, and possibly some free Organicare supplements
Grow Medium: 3 parts Fox Farm Ocean Forest 1 part 50/50 vermiculite/pumice mix
Container sizes: 5"x5"x5" pots for vegging, 2 gallon growbags for flowering

Now to explain the grow,
My goal is to harvest 5 or 6 plants every 4 weeks, in other words i will be putting around 5 plants into the flower room every 4 weeks. I will not be keeping mothers so I will be taking a clone or two off of each plant right before i put them in the flower chamber. This will provide the next batch of plants as well as help to keep the plants shorter, and I will be pruning the lower 1/3 of the plants anyways. I want to have between 8 and 16 plants in the flower chamber at all times. I will be performing some experiments throughout the year. The first of which will be using just organic big bloom on half the plants in the first generation and using big bloom and molasses on the other half. I will be judging the results of the experiment on yield per plant, Density of buds, and visual appeal of the bud.

I will post with some pictures of the setup soon since I have not yet begun to germinate the seeds (waiting on my mmj recc), i am hoping to get this done by the end of the week. The Construction is 90% done I have to make a light barrier between veg and flower chamber as well as cut a hole to vent into the attic.

I'd appreciate any suggestions, constructive criticism, or general comments you guys have. And I'd also be happy to answer any questions or clarify anything you may not understand.

That sound almost exactly like what I'm doing. I've got twelve spots for flowering plants and six for vegitative growth. The only big (HUGE) difference that I see is that I'm using hydroponics. Please keep updating this to tell me how it goes. Another differince is I'm out of seeds and have to use cloning mothers to start. In my vegging area I have 3 65w-ers and am using a 400w hps ballast for flowering (although I've got mh in ther write now). My plan is to take a clone from each of the veging plants as I transfer it into the flowering area, maybe a little before to let the plant grow out again as I'm using an unknown feminised sativa (which is reallystrange I think). One thing that I have learned so far is to take into account that clones take 1-2 weeks to to start roots and another week or so for them to start verticle growth, but if I thought it over right it only means that my flowering area will only have six plants sometimes. Your grow area seems more advanced because I have no air circularing equpment, I think that I'll be ok for a while though because my area is 4x8 and I've only got two big plants. I think that we should also take into account that some clones wont make it which could really upset the cycle (especially for me because I'm using sativas). Where did you get the seeds and where do you live?

i plan on switching over to hydroponics at some point im thinking either ebb n flow or NFT. I wanted to keep it simple and cheap for a while before i switch over to hydro. I got the seeds from seed boutique and they are nirvana genetics. I live in Nor Cal in a pretty liberal county. Do you have a grow journal I would definetely like to subscribe if you do?

I should be germinating the seeds next thursday if everything goes well. I got an appointment to get my MMJ recc next thursday! so stoked!

Well you just inspired me to take some pictures of the grow area, so ill post those in a few minutes.

its 4:20pm btw

I don't have a grow journal yet because I can't upoad pictures and is seems pointles because no one would won't to read about an newbs unknown strain without pictures. Setting up by ebb and flow was really easy, the DWC is harder because I'm less sure of myself. I bought all my suplies from FRED MEYER and a hydro store (only for nutes, net pots and hydroton). You sound like your got everything together so you might not want to switch to hydro. The main reasing I'm doing it is because I'm a dumbass and didn't know that you could clone in soil at the time. I've also still got to light proof a little more and maybe buy a bigger air pump for my vegging area. I'll probably start a journal once I start flowering my mothers, they're a little over 4ft now. Is you area like a closet or somthing? Mines an outdoor shed which I'm begging to regret soon as I live in Seattle I don't know what I'm going to do in the winter with only clones. Also it's not the most sanitary place even after I did some flea bombs (I figured they would kill everything) and washing. I might go back to my first grows area, up in my attic, which will probabley stay a lot warmer. The problem is I barley had enough room to flower a two footer up there. Good luck.

Well I finally got around to taking some pictures of the grow area. Tell me what you think. The only thing not pictured is the ventilation system which is not installed yet.

Closet Setup, Veg area on the top with the lightproofing curtain down, its not perfect but its darker than a full moon is in the flower chamber when curtain is down.

Close up of the flowering area with the curtain down. On top you can see the 2 65w flourescents, and the Lumatek digital ballast.

Lights on, 15,000 lumens of 6500k flourescents for the Vegging and a 400w 50,000 lumen HPS light for Flowering down below.

Close up of the veg chamber with 10, 5" pots to start things off.

Heres what the cfl's and reflectors look like from the bottom, they were only $8.50 at costco 7,600 lumens each with a good reflectors.

Closeup of the flowering chamber with the light on, its 54" tall

This is how bright the HPS gets after the digital ballast does its slow start up.

A picture of the seeds i recieved from nirvana, i got 5 free skunk #1 x Haze seeds.

Foxfarm organic Big Bloom (11.95), and Organicare full line of organicare supplements (free)

Originally planned to mix 1 part perlite with 1 part vermiculite into 3 parts FFOF soil but the store i went to didnt have any organic perlite only miracle gro perlite w/ piracle grow fert in it, so i decided to go with pumice which is organic and similar to perlite

if anyone has any ideas to keep the inline fan a little quieter let me know. i have heard using a fan speed controller helps, how much does one of these cost?

That looks amazing. It's so clean and shiny and in order. Your gonna grow some BIG buds in there. I don't see you encountering one problem in there. I don't know if your already doing this but you could try suspending the fan.

well i started germinating the little girls today, im using the paper towel method. I'm leaving all 10 seeds in between 3 damp paper towels sandwiched by 2 dinner plates on top of my computers exhaust fan.

dont worry have faith they should all pop out the shells..nice setup you have there looks good and clean..ill be keeping an eye out on this thread
