Sniff sniff, 21 days old & stinks already. How do I stop odor problem?

Stealth grow in jeopardy of discovery--HELP! My babies are only 3 weeks old but have already developed a strong case of skunk breath. I have a fish tank air pump that I use to exhaust my 22"X5'X8' "closet" grow area that I can't even let the wife know about. I actually built an entire addition (workshop) specifically to build a hidden grow room. I drilled a 2" hole in the floor to bring in cooler fresh air from crawl space. I have it on 6 hours a day but my kids are still smelling skunky. The seeds were from good seedbag green-bud. The odor is actually pretty good to me, but others won't be so pleased. What can I do to remove the odor quietly. I've been told to get something that comes in a tub that you just open the container and it does the work for you. Any input?:wall::weed:

ODNA works well.Just unscrew the top and leave open.Once the Odna starts to vaporize they sell the liquid to pour in and re-wet the crystals.

I was surprised too by the age & smell. With the size of my schnoze, I don't miss many odors--LOL. I don't know the brand name of the pump, but it is a small one that does 24 gpm of air movement. I now realize that I'll need something different, I just thought I'd try the pump without a lot of forethought. It sounds like it would work, but evidently not. One guy even said to try "auto air-fresheners". Talk about a combination of stinks....whew! :wall:

Odna? That sounds like the stuff a friend told me about. I'll go to my hydro store & see if they have some & I'll let you all know how it works. Thanks for all the input everyone.

I just ran across something on-line called "airsponge". Has anyone else heard of it? It sounds like what you were talking about with the "ona" block, Zertrock. I couldn't find anything that said "odna". It said to just put it by the odor causer and it will eliminate it, not just add perfumes to the air.

As always, thank you all for the great input. This has got to be the best forum site on the net. I don't see very much personal abuse from those looking for an argument. bongsmilie:bigjoint::weed::joint: To quote Homer, "Mmmmm, Pot." Or was that supposed to be beer...lol.

Hey bro Hydroponics systems, gardening equipment, grow lights and plant nutrients at 4 Hydroponics.com by Growco Indoor Gardening Supply in Grand Rapids, Michigan has odor eliminators that are just simply open and walk away but in my case (closet grower) I just use a scented candle. Wife even commented how "fresh" the computer room smelled LOL Good luck bro, hope yer buds be strong and sweet!!!
And I think we have a winner here folks. I just perused the site you referred and low and behold there was the "ona" gel that was talked about. I'll see if my local hydro store carries these products. Hit the link people, and check out the site, very helpful. Thanks Gamera00, you hit a home run for me, and others I would say.bongsmilie:blsmoke::clap:

i used to put a pump / bubbler for a fish tank into a bucket of pine sole / water mix.

also look into a DIY charcole filler depending on how you are venting air out. (I plan on making one i na few months)

The bucket of pinesol doesn't sound like the smell:spew: I would like tho, but that's a good idea to mask the odor. I'm trying to get rid of odor, so your idea of the filter is on track for my needs. I'll be going to my hydro store today to look for either "Ona" or "Airsponge". My research and other helpers here say they will do what I need. I'll let you all know how it works.:peace::joint: As usual, thanks for your input & info everyone, you are the best on the net.:peace:bongsmilie

I went to the hydro store at lunch & bought some of that "Ona" stuff in a small jar. Opened it at work (sell cars in a small office building with THE one & only bathroom here (great odor combinations:???:). Anyway, I thought it would be a good test for it. Wow! In less than 20 minutes it started smelling CLEAN in here. I'll still let you all know how it works for the real purpose after a day or so for a test. But at this point it looks good:mrgreen:. Keep fingers crossed. Also, it was $8.00, so if it does work, I'll try to find it a little cheaper:wink:. They said it will last about 1 1/2 months, so I'll need more:cuss:. But it's a small price to pay for the eventual outcome.:eyesmoke:

I use a carbon filter in the room with the airflow going out of the room through the reflector. There's never a smell, and as a bonus, you create a negative pressure in your space. Great for happy plants. Make sure to stop by a muffler shop and grab thick rubber bands to hang your fan from to muffle the vibrations though so you don't fix a smell problem by creating a noise problem.

After a day of use, I have to report that I will probably be making a DIY Carbon filter system. The Ona does work to a degree, and with the size and age of my babies, I don't think it will be sufficient when I put the girls into flowering stage. Plus, there IS an odor  given off that, when mixed with something a little "skunky", has a very unusual smell combination. So, when they get closer to flowering, I'll combine the use of a filter. So, if I have anything further to report on the trial of "Ona", good OR bad, I'll let you all know. And of course, if any of you have something else you think I should know, PLEASE do so.:weed::bigjoint::blsmoke::peace:

As always, thanks to all my colleagues for any and all help. You are the best, people, you rock. Smoke on brothers & sisters. Or, as my early heroes, The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers would say, "Keep On Truckin'" :lol:bongsmilie;-)

PS-- Below is a pic of one of my girls (hopefully) at 24 days now. Ain't she purdy? :eyesmoke:

I had a big odor problem as well, and the carbon scrubber couldn't keep up. So we got a jar of Onagel from the hydro store and it did help out quite a bit. If you want to increase the cover up, put a fan blowing over the jar. It will evaporate the liquid much quicker, but it works to cover stronger odors. I think I will eventually be using two jars of Onagel with two small fans blowing over each jar. That in combination with a carbon scrubber in my cab should be able to handle even the most pungent odors. The only thing is you can go through the onagel fairly quickly. From here on for me its an experiment to walk the line between cover up and onagel conservation.

funny. i made a post about this a few days ago as well. my plants are 23 days in from germination and they reeeeeeek. its pretty nuts as i never expected smell until flowering.

i put some vanilla extract in a bowl with cotton balls due to someone on here's suggestion and its actually cut the smell back almost completely unless you're standing in front of my closet (then of course you can smell it).

I just decided to start flowering them since I was only going to veg them for 30 days.
