because my dad let me smoke weed in highschool it made me not seek any other drugs, I wasnt even slightly interested in trying anything else...I just loveddd pot! lol a lot of people during highschool were heavily into ecstacy(doing it at school daily wtf), and getting drunk a lot too, me...i just toked up. I will admit after highschool though I tried shrooms, which was awesome...the point is, weed isnt like any other drug, so I think its okay if a father lets his teens use it.

Christ, there should be some sort of licensing requirement to have children. Some things are for kids and some things are for adults. Sex, alcohol, pot, all things that are much better practiced by adults. Of course there will be the "oh ya, well I drank/smoked/fucked when I was 12 and I turned out ok". I am always reminded of a Chris Rock quote from one of this earlier comedy shows "you can drive with your feet but that don't make it a good fuckin' idea".

Please do the research yourself, marijuana, like pretty much anything that drastically alters brain chemistry is really not wise to mess around with during the development stages which happen right around those teenage years. Again, I know there are plenty of you out there who have used marijuana heavily and claim to be normal but the reality is that without some pretty costly testing, there is no way to say that.

On a legal note I would like to remind you that if you were ever caught providing marijuana to your kids, not only would you be facing a felony (depending on age and state) but you can bet your ass that they will seize your computer and find this very post which you WILL have to answer for in court. That is all assuming you don't grow, if you did have even a small grow in the same house as the kids then I would bet all the pot I have right now that you would face (at the very least) a few years in prison.

It really does pain me to be the buzz kill here and I promise, I am not some "narc" who just wants to rain on your parade. I smoke daily and probably more than most here but like everything marijuana has a time and a place.

I think it's ok for a parent to smoke with their kids as long as they don't forget that they ARE the parent. And as long as you teach them to use responsibly. I mean, if your kids grades start slipping, I hope you would step in and handle it.

Some parents are just too concerned with being the cool parent, being their kid's friend. I think that's a big mistake.

My mom didn't start smoking with me until I started smoking myself, at 18.

I had maybe 4 beers total in high school because I wanted to be a cop and was scared of getting a criminal record. I knew people who smoked out with mom and dad and then stole some rock from them.

Personal experiences are not always great to base policy choices on.

they stole "rock" ...? i dont get what your saying...policy choices? whether or not you think some things are for adults and some things are for kids...kids WILL do the adult things, they will smoke pot, they will drink, they will have sex...you sound very conservative. So my dad figured he would smoke pot with me in my late teen years because he knew id be doing it ANYWAY.

I think i will wait till my kids are about 16... not to introduce them to it though but instead inform them about it... and let them make thier own decisions... i only ask that they dont try to hide it and lie about it

I don't get people who act like since kids are going to do whatever the want, we should just let them. That's some lazy ass parenting right there.

yeah i dont want to wait to late if i let them discover weed on there own they might start taking other drugs too and i def dont want to give the impression that all drugs are good and should be comsumed for recreation the way pot is

i thinking may after 8th grade going into high school is where you start those thing anyways
I started smoking at 13 with some friends. never had a problem with it because it was so hard to find and I didn't have any money. I think I would wait til they have tried it on their own with their peers, even then I won't be pushing it on them. If I were to sit down with my son and smoke a joint I won't be doing it til he's 18. He doesn't need to know anything about his dad smoking because you would be supprised (maybe not) on how much that info would get passed around his circle of friends then all it takes is one kid to say something to their parents and all hell would break loose. Be a responsible parent and keep an eye on them with open discussions and let them be kids. When they are adults at 18 it's a whole new world.....

If you need to ask people on the internet perhaps you should reevaluate your role as a parent. And your reasoning of how you don't want to wait too long before they try other drugs contains little logic at all. Your kids are barely old enough to be in kindergarten and you're concerned with when you'll have someone to get high with? get a brain, get some ADULT friends, wise up.

I agree with matthew's post. You shouldn't introduce your children to pot in their early/mid teen years. MAYBE after highschool or something, but I'm sure they will have tried it by then, but still. Anyway, is it worth the risk of all the trouble you would get in. It would probably get around that you are smoking with your kid. How cool would it be for him to tell all his buddies at school that his dad smokes weed with him, ya know?

Well I dont have kids, Im 18, but you sound pretty outrageous when you say that the police will sieze computers and will find this post talking about how parents smoked with their teens years ago...saying all that is unncessary. You dont sound like a narc, you sound like a prohibitionist, especially when you spoke about marijuana altering brain chemistry...im sure all these little children that have parents pounding them with pills like adderal and ritalin are way worse off, and its fucking with their brain chemistry way more, its legal for parents to give a 5 year old pills daily...something isnt right about this and its completely hypocritical, you gotta take all these things in to account before anyone starts trying to make it sound like a parent is horrible for letting a teen smoke weed.

maybe i just grew up different, but all my friends in highschool smoked weed, and all their dads did, it was no big deal and no one ever bragged about their parents toking up, even a few of my friends moms openly talked about smoking weed... so i just cant relate lol

waiting till they have tryed it on there own to me is to hard, with the way kids do drugs these days i would want to catch them early and give them some so they will not want to try nothing else, the way it happed to me ( but not from my folks) the person who introduced me to urb told me weed was natrual and ok those other druigs were manufactured and bad, so that stuck with me and i never tryed them, so i figure if i catch them early einough i can till them the same thing and they would only do weed,

Soooooooo.... Your a cop?
that was all i read also, couldnt get passed that part, but i guess we are all intitled to toke, yes even the law, if i had went down that road i would prolly would still smoke and grow so its not hard to think of the law as grows and smokers

wow.. so, when there in school sleeping cuz there stoned and flunk out of school, is that gonna be cool with you too?

I cant believe how some ppl think MJ is like GD candy.. IT IS STILL A DRUG.. Regardless how we as adults feel about it, thee is NO excuse for poor parenting.. Allowing or wven worse smoking w/ ur kids if they are under 18 is just wrong imho and is borderline child neglect. Give the kids a chance to finish high school damn.. I swear some ppl ... ARGH!

Kids under 18 have no buisness smoking weed.. PERIOD... Like I said way back ion this thread.. IMHO you really shouldnt smoke till your 21.. Or out of college.. W/e comes first. Until then you really need to focus on your education and what you want to do w/ ur life

To a certain point do i agree with this , i am commin from a place where i have done almost every drug there is minus a few i said i would never do before i was 18.. but ok i think a child should not smoke weed but i think a teen can start to make their own choices to a extent, smokin with your kids is a smart idea because of a few reasons, but i think you shouldnt even hint to them you do it until they have tried it themselves and having a good and trusting relationship will lead to them telling you about what they do. BUT HERES WERE M.O comes in.... every single kid on this earth is different and if you think smokin herb is goin to keep them from hard drugs your insane , i wanted to do everything because i wanted to expirience them, i didnt care that "you" thought they were dangerous i just wanted to . its all on them and honestly you sayin weed even tho i dont consider it a drug but the world does , is ok then whats wrong with OCs, or rolls, coke, meth, heroin, acid, ....etc. but personaly im gonna be the " i would rather you try it with me than do it were i dont know your goin to be safe and teach them that school comes first, and that before your body if fully matured doing any drug risks you haveing problems in the future.

but this is just what i think and expirienced!!:weed:

good luck bro
