This sucks ass. I have a bad ass cold or something making me sick and I can't even smoke. If I do it makes it worse!

Am I alone or does smoking effect your immune system as well?

The one thing it has helped me with I admit is my runny/stuffy nose. Clears it right up.

I WANNA GET BAKED! GIVE ME HEALTH!

I don't think smoking affects your immune system in a negative way... but don't quote me on that. I do know that smoking when sick just sucks ass... you don't feel good and it tastes terrible. It's the same way with cigarettes. Just let your body recover a few days and then toke up!!

When I have a cold, the last thing I want to do is to put smoke into my lungs.
Which is another reason why I'm a proud owner of my vaporizer. I can vape all day when I'm sick with a cold and my lungs still don't feel heavy.

I need to buy a vaporizer! It's also getting high when I'm sick makes me feel worse. It really fucks with my ears, balance, throat, etc. It's so hard to wait! I'm bored as hell and really wanna smoke. I usually smoke everyday and I have smoked twice in the last 10 days!

It's better to wait and enjoy your high than suffer for the stonage.

I would say that smoking marijuana works accordingly depending on your immune system and its way of functioning. If you have a case of bronchitis, I would say that by all means you should steer clear of any smoke whatsoever. Yet, at the same time, it clears my sinus problem as well.
But the "effects" on the immune system are what intrigued my interest in this thread.
For any of those who may be interested, it serves as a great benefit to the immune system of many.

However, I suggest "naturally" skipping the DEA's recommended version.

Porton Down, United Kingdom: Long-term administration of Sativex, an oral spray consisting of natural cannabis extracts, reduces spasticity in multiple sclerosis patients, according to clinical trial data reported last week by the biotechnology firm GW Pharmaceuticals.
Thirty-six patients completed the placebo-controlled randomized withdrawal study. Subjects in the study had been using Sativex for a mean of 3.6 years.
Patients who ceased using Sativex during the four-week trial experienced significantly worse spasticity than they had while taking the drug, investigators reported.
There was "no evidence of withdrawal syndrome in those patients who stopped taking Sativex."
A similarly designed study previously reported that long-term use of Sativex consistently reduced MS-associated neuropathic pain. Patients in that study continued to receive adequate pain relief from Sativex over a period of several years without growing tolerant to the drug or having to increase their daily dose over time.
"Taken together, these studies show that the efficacy of Sativex in the treatment of both neuropathic pain and spasticity due to MS is maintained in long-term use," researchers concluded in a press release.
Ongoing investigations of the use of cannabinoids and multiple sclerosis have indicated that the compounds may slow the progression of the disease. A 2008 review published in the journal Current Pharmaceutical Design reported, "Cannabinoids may not only offer symptom control but [they] may also slow the neurodegenerative disease progression that ultimately leads to the accumulation of disability."

I'd say due to T-cells expressing CB2 receptors that should be evidence enough that cannabis doesn't inhibit the immune system at all.

I don't know what I have but it's not just the smoke bothering me. When I'm sick and smoke it just makes me feel worse. Maybe it's just me? I'm not sure.

Smoking has absolutely no negative effects on the immune system. It actually has powerful immunomodulation properties, which has been proven to help fight pretty much every disease they have ever tested it against.

Ohh and in case anyone does not know this. Weed ENHANCES things. So if you're sick it can ENHANCE what you're feeling, which is sick. It can exagerate anything you're feeling, including pain.

lmao, I've never had weed exaggerate pain buddy. or my sickness.

weed takes the edge off pain, it doesn't enhance it.

It depends on the quality, and composition of the smoke.

I have myofascial trigger points in every muscle in my body, along with several chronic pain conditions (ME, CFIDS, FM, MPS). Believe me pot CAN make your pain worse (Sativa dominant strains, or just lack of CBD in general) or better, but only in combination with opiate pain medication for serious neuropathic pain.

And even then, people with serious pain conditions smoke to help with the side effects of the pain medicine, almost never just for the pain.

that's a trip. I've heard of sativa's doing crazy shit, but not exaggerating pain . . .

but it makes sense that there would be more pain due to the lack of CBD to kill the pain.

I've read somewhere that the cannabinoid receptor can be responsible for pain as well as killing pain . . .

interesting concepts here but I'm getting all confused in the midst of my highness (not royalty :D :D).

Yeah, its pretty crazy that people have bred strains with literally 0% CBD content. These strains are what actually led to clinical studies showing that Marijuana use increased the likely hood of developing schizophrenia in adolescent and teen populations. Of course for that study they used 100% sativa with no CBD, when in fact CBD is an ANTI-Psycotic!

I have to disagree. Smoking anything has an effect on the immune system. In the case of Cannabis, there is only a small negative effect. This is caused by the carcinogens and free radicals that are absorbed via the lungs. These carcinogens come from the combustion that effects the bonds between the carbon molecules in the weed. Combustion, or the burning of anything does this because anything that is smokable has some carbon in it. Get a vaporizer like you said and this risk is virtually eliminated. Relativeood, I have heard the same thing about CBD.

Well my wife just went to the doctor, and her physician indicated she had an Over-reactive immune system. She's a daily smoker, and in the time i've known her she's never gotten sick. To I degree I believe that's not soely due to the marijuana. According to her and her family she's never really been a sickly person.

Smoking is bad mmmk? That's a no brainer. Aside from that weed in and of itself is probably not harming your immune system. It's my belief that man has been using hemp for so long that we are wired for it.

However, while you smoke your weed, what else is along for the ride? Do you inspect your buds with an electron microscope? Do you honestly think because you don't see VISIBLE mold, your weed is clean? No way.....

What is needed is a safe sterilization methodology, which would be the next greatest weed invention since those darn grinders.....

So the weed won't hurt you but the hitchhikers might. I'd suggest washing your weed just like you wash your veggies after harvest. Never reuse jars unless you have STERILIZED them first. :peace:

hah my shit aint THAT dirty haha.

worst you'll find in any of mind would be a tiny bit of dust and some fuzz from my house.

but I'll admit there is shit in my weed too, nothing bad but stuff does manage to get stuck to that shit no matter how clean you are.
