Smell control! Small garden. advice?

I have 4 purple kush plants (about 35 days into flowering) in a 4x2.5x8' closet unter a 1000 watt hps (Overkill i know)
10'' fan pointed at the light
huge ass blower fan i got from hydro shop suckin air from the otherside of the light and out of the room. The smell is unreal. I ran the exhaust into a make shift air filter with a cardboard box, some activated carbon rocks (left over from a fish tank) and dryer sheets. Its not half bad, the air flows well through the carbon. It cut the smell down a lot

I have too keep the door open during the day or the temp goes up to about 30-33C so the smell creeps its way out.

In the proccess of looking at carbon filters, just wondering what size would be best for my garden? Should I put it at the top in the room? Run the air outside, then through the filter? Any tricks or suggestions?

(I'm going to be switching to a 3 plant DWC system under a 250-400 watt hps when this cycle is done)

Ok, wow. Drop the 1000 watter. It is creating huge secondary problems. Too much heat, needs too much extraction, equals too big and expensive a carbon filter. Slow air is clean air, and you are probably rushing it past the carbon so fast, there is not sufficient time to clean it. Get a 400 or if you must, a 600, get a flow through reflector, get appropriate fan and filter set. Be done.
