I wanted to show some pics, and i thought i might as well start a journal.
I've been growing awhile, and i owe any skills i have to this site and the knowledge imparted.
I have two small cabinets in a closet.
My veg cabinet is 18in x 24inx 32in., with mylar wrapping the sides and top.
I use 2 42w 2700k cfls and 6 23w 6500k cfls. A pc fan for intake, and a weird air filtering thing for the out take (it was in the garage)
lights are on an 18/6 schedule.
I grow in soil, usually miracle grow moisture control, and veg with an all purpose plant food 24-8-16
clones are taken with a root hormone powder and sprouted in small party cups.
My flowering cabinet is the same size but taller to make room for the light. it has a floralux 150w hps. i removed the ballast and extended the wiring to make it remote, the fixture has an attachment for 4in ducting to attach so i have an inline fan attached pulling the air out of the cabinet through the glass fixture, it works very well. the plants grow all the way to the glass before suffering any heat damage. then there are two 23w exoterra cfls, that add uv light, like for reptiles. they are a 10, and i forget what that means, maybe 10% uv added? i only run them for part of the day, and taper upwards throughout flowering. the hps runs 12 hours, the outtake 24 hours, and a small high velocity fan blows within the box on the buds while the lights are on.
i add a two liter bottle of yeast and sugar water for co2.
everything was very inexpensive, and available at local hardware stores, even the fertilizer and soil.
right now i'm growing aurora indica from nirvana. they were from one order of feminized seeds. they came quickly, and 4 of 5 sprouted. all have been female but one plant was a freak and didn't produce any significant amount of resin. i do not have enough experience to blame the genes, i did transplant it right before putting it into flowering so that may be the reason.
in general it has lived up to its desciption, itis a good producer, with heavy buds and a ton of resin. the stoned is very heavy. it has flowered in as little as 6 weeks.
i deisgned this set up to be cheap, quiet,use a small amout of power, and to keep a continuous grow going without exceeding 5 plants. it has been working well.
