Slow plant growth

Hi, i've been growing white widow and 1 extreme indica for around 3 weeks now.

Thing is, there no were near as grown as my last grow, something is slowing there growth, the only thing different from my last grow is that the bulb is not a 400mh, but now its a 600w hps dual spectrum.

Also i havent given them as much nutes, because they're really touchy and nute burn easily.

Sorry about no photos, they also have purple stems, all 4 plants, 2 different strains. one white widdow is growing really healthy but still not growing any faster than the others..

I also found 3 bugs, which looked like weevil bugs, i killed those three and its been a week later and no sight of any bugs. (but theres no sign of damage from bugs)

Confused. Muchly.

Growing in canna coco, i never PH anything my PH monitor rather doesnt work or my PH is always 8.

My last grow was the same, PH always 8 & they grow amazingly.

Any suggestions?

Last grow you were lucky mate, this grow not so much. You are going to have to start reading on ph, ec etc. Stoners are lazy brother, if we didn't need these readings we would not talk about them all the time ;)

I stopped checking mine but I don't have issues currently (fingers crossed). When your having problems you cannot ignore a PH out of acceptable range like 8 this would definitely hinder growth

Yeah your ph should be between 5.6 to 6.5.A ph reading of 8 is way to high.definatly will hinder growth.Your stems turning purple may be because of genetics but if you didnt see it on the last grow then id say your temps are a little low as well. Are you using an ebb and flow/DWC system? If so go to walley world to the fishtank isle and get you some ph test strips there about $10.00, also pick up an aquarium heater for the res. as long as you dont have a 50 gal res it will keep your temps between 72- 78 degrees. It will work on 50 gallons but takes alot longer to warm up.By keeping the solution at 72-78, every time you water youll keep root zone close to that temperature.Plus if you have a fan on when lights are off and its pretty cold outside the box.try turning it off when no lights on,maybe even turn the fan off 2-3 min before lights out and let the closet build a little heat

That 600 watt HPS is probably stopping the stretch that was happening with the 400 MH, after all, it's 4X the output. And with all that light, the plants are trying to photosynthesize alot more, running into the PH problems, further slowing things down. Just a theory.

My water ph starts at almost 7. By the time i add all the nutes it drops as low as 4.5,I have to add 2-3 capfulls of ph up to get to 5.8.The ph is important to marijuana because all the elements available to the marijuana can be absorbed within ph 5.6-6.5.Too high will allow too much of one nutrient( possibly causing a lockout) and not enough of another, and vice versa with low readings
