slime on hose

Hey this isn't really a hydro question but I grow in a soilless medium and I have a question about my resovior. I have a 13 gal bin to hold RO water. There is an airstone and pump at the bottom. I filled it up today and when i went to grab the hose to fill some jugs I felt it covered in a thin slick layer of something. There are no strange colors or anything, but I don't know what this is and am wondering if it might be the start of bacteria in the water which I wouldn't want to feed myself or my plants.

As long as you have an airstone in there and make sure you have a lid over it to keep light out. Preferrably a dark one then I wouldn't see why you would have slime in there that fast if you filled it up today.

you can still get that slime bacteria even if it is light proof near on frozen an have tons of bubbles in there, thats how my slime started got thick coats on walls of rez air line an the airstone was cacked in such a thick layer, i know what caused mine well i think i know i had some root break off an was just in the bottom of rez decaying an as i was not running any zymes i presume it turned into the slime, it is impossible to get rid of. the way in which i got rid of mine was to scrub everything down with neat bleach clean warm water then used dettol as it supposed to kill 99.99% bacteria/germs clean down warm water then soak with h2o2 clean down again, an just to make sure i replaced airstones an netpots. now i run DM zone an have no problems nice thick white roots hairyer than cousin it off adams family you may jus have a bit of algae but be prepared if it's not heinsberg has a thread on how to brew beneficial bacteria a ewc tea to combat it if it does indeed turn out to be the slime

I have had a lot of experience with this slime in the last few months. Cleaning won't help, h2o2 won't help it loves darkness intact the darker it is the worse it gets.

The only way to get rid of this fungus is to introduce beneficial bacteria. I did it with terantula from advanced nutrients.

As this stuff is fungus the spores are airborn. So clean as much as you like it will just come back.

well it looks like i've got some mixed answers. My problem is not getting worse, my res walls are not slimy either. Light does get into my res, the airstone hose and pump cord come out of the top of the res so the lid doesn't shut all the way. I'm going to empty it and clean it when I get back anyways, anyone know what to do with the airstone/pump lines to make the lid fully shut?
