ok details:
250 watt HPS
2 100 watt CFL
DR 60 Dark Grow Room
3.5 ft tall sativa strain
8 weeks and 2 days flowering
perfect conditions and watering etc

problem:
I have to leave my place for a few weeks in about a week. I was hoping from the beginning that i could harvest this past weekend and have the week to dry them before i leave. So now it is 5 days before i leave. If i harvest tomorrow there will be about 10% hairs changed over to amber brown and very few trichs getting cloudy. I HAVE TO HARVEST TOMORROW FOR DRYING, sooo what will the quality of THC be and will it be completely a Head high?

pics wont attach..sorry

can't tell from the pics but from what they show, you dont have a lot of trich's on her yet and with all the white hairs it's looking a lot earlier than 8weeks in flower. Im guessing she's got a good percentage of sativa in her genetics.

If you MUST harvest tomorrow, that would be a shame because another couple of weeks and you'd have some quality bud there, nevertheless I think you'll get a good short-lived Heady high off her nugs. just my $0.02

i would REALLY advise against it. the pics below was my first and only harvest and i chopped down not too soon after those pictures were taken and i regret it.... the weed wasnt good at all. just wasnt potent.

i should of followed the trichs and so should you. my trichs then were just turning cloudy. like yours.

try to give it to a friend or something. anything... youll be thankful.

I wouldnt harvest now its just a total waste. Can you find some one to water them once a week? How about a water globe or something? How about a wick in a 5 gal water bucket? Dude, google it and see what you can come up with.

BoneMan, I actually have 4 Waterglobes off of As Seen On TV, and will only be gone 2 weeks, but Everything is completely locked up, top to bottom at multiple levels and there is no entry around it while i'm gone by anyone. Can the 4 waterglobes make it 2 whole weeks? Does the plant need 2 whole more weeks? I thought i was real close...maybe not. Thanks in advance!

I agree with boneman. Harvesting now would be a damn shame. That bud will shrivel up to nothing when it dries.

If you have to, take a 2 litre bottle, put a tiny pinhole in the lid, fill it with water and flip it over and into your soil.

I think even if you can keep it moist for a few extra days and let it dry up and die on the plant, you'll be better served than chopping now.

Patience = bigger, fatter stronger nugs.

I've used the same Aquaglobes while on a 2 week vacation, and I was astonished when i returned to not only find my ladies alive, but healthy! (just make sure you poke a hole where the globe is gonna go with a stick or something first so the neck doesnt clog with soil)

I have a sativa that's in week 12 and still going... it looked like yours in your pic when it was at week 8.

I have to concur with everyone else... after all this time, it would be a regret to not let them finish...

In my opinion (and in all honesty, everyone has their own tastes, so all you'll ever get is opinions.) from those photos you have at least 2-3 more weeks. (i'd probably go a month)

A ripe marijuana plant will be filled in, will have an amber tinge to the buds. The pistils should have browned (or orange-d) off and receded into the buds. The seed bracts should be swollen and the trichomes should be sticking straight out with bulbous ends. Also, because you're coming close to the end of plant's life cycle, the leaves should have yellowed off and started to die.

one of my plants, 3 days before chop-chop.

Now alot of people will tell you that you should harvest based on the colour of your trichomes. But (again, in my opinion) that is far too simplistic and there are too many variables to make that an effective strategy. I've made that point a million times before and i'm not going to re-hash it here, but rest assured there is more to the picture than just trich colour.

The fact of the matter is, your bud should look done all over. It may take a couple harvest to figure out exactly what that is for you, but you'll get it.

Good luck!!!:peace:

I would do the water globes and the pin hole 2 litre bottle thingy. Even if they get enough water for a week and dry out the 2nd week it will be much better.
I just left my plants for an entire week and they were about two weeks from harvesting. They definately dried up and the plant was sucking every bit of life left in the fans but they are still fine.

Rite-aid, CVS, all sell the globes You could get a few for each plants and they would not work against each other either. Best way you should watch how much water it takes from the globe for a few days or so then see if you can make it.

so, you not only think i need to leave them while I'm gone these 2 weeks, but maybe even 2 more weeks. What are the chances that four (4) waterglobes all on the same plant and the 2 liter bottle method combined can get the plant through 2 whole weeks. I dont want to come back and have a shriveled up plant. you know? I will say that it gets quite hot in the room without me there to keep it opened up, so it dries out quicker, but still its a well designed grow room (DR 60) so the temps dont ever get dangerously high or anything.

I would watch start using the globes now too see how much you are using over the few days unless you know how much you water in measurement and what a globe carries and figure it out what is your water schedule right now?

I use distilled water from the grocery store in a gallon, so I'll put it in there and poke a tiny whole in it, and fill the 4 water globes as well. Hopefully when i get back i have some dank nugs...how do you think things are progressing though..this is my first grow

Things look great right now. I would think that if all you have is one plant then 4 globes should be good enough whats the size of the bucket? 5 gallon and you should be fine just make sure to water before you leave.

i left on a trip recently and i was trippin balls about my little baby jamie. before i left i let her and the soil dry out a little then the day i left i saturated the soil with water and left a little...um water holder thing under so that it stayed there.

i was seriously having nightmares about it being a shriveled little cloud of dust when i got home. but she was fine.

me harvest be in like 3 weeks too!

Thanks everyone for the advice to hold my lady over for a few weeks. I dont have any final pics but i ended up waiting 3 weeks from the original post date of this thread and yielded 45 g's of dried dankness. The top cola was 9 inches long and weighed in at an impressive 21 g's. Starting a grow with new lights/tools/nutes/etc soon and will be putting together a nice journal on here. Start to finish.
