Skunk #11 First Grow - Journal

This is my first grow ever. I am growing Femed. Skunk #11 from Dutch Passion that I bought DrChronic.

Currently I am germinating and have pictures of this. I'm using the paper towel in a bag method. I'll be using Ocean Forest Potting Soil and the 3 Pack Fox Farm Nutes. I'll be starting off with a 400w HPS and in a week switch to a MH when I get it.

Starting off with .5 gallon bags and then will transplant them to 3 gallon bags. 4 seeds of Skunk #11 and 1 seed from some mids I bought.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions before my taproots come in :joint:

Added water w/ spray didn't put much in fear of drowning but half way down felt dry on all the plants. Watered at 10:40 PM on March 28 Day 2 of Grow. Also fed it some Co2 w/ dry ice. No sprouting yet.

Sad story. I found out I had planted my seeds to far down. So I went through each one and replanted about 1/4''. Using same soil, didn't water since soil felt nice and moist, but I believe I lost a seed of my good bud >.<.

I'm curious, is there anything I should do now that I have replanted?

Also, exactly what does a seed do before it hits the surface? I found something that resembled a taproot but it looked like the seed was gone. I decided on the safe side to plant this. Hoping it's the seed. I will get pictures soon.

Update! One sprouted! Sadly I think it is the bagseed instead of the Skunk, but that's ok. I'm guessing I just planted that one closer to the top :)

2nd Update! Evidently I didn't lose the baby and the thing I found was the plant! So I still have all my babies!! 2 Sprouted, Waiting for 3 more.

Set my HPS lamp 2 1/2' rather then 2' because of heat problems and didn't want to burn the new leaves.

5/5 Sprouted. One looks a bit weird though, like its brown and it looks like the seed hasn't broke, yet its trying to create a stem with the seed still? I'll have pictures soon.

Oh yeah, and 50 views w/ no comments. We've all seen I Am Legend right? Don't make me be alone >.<

Skunk #11, is this a hybrid of Skunk #1? I was thinking of growing Skunk #1 myself.

Duece.

That seed head should come off in a day or two and I wouldn't worry about it.

I just put my seeds into soil yesterday and will be starting a journal in a couple of days. So I'm right behind you. Goodluck with your grow!

Thanks for the info and posting. I'll make sure to look for your Journal and watch.

Not sure on the strain type tho. Dutch Passion sells it.

New Pictures and a couple updates.

First, I got my 400w MH light and stuck that baby in, no more worrying about plants stretching! Also, I went out and bough t a 6'' Inline Duct Fan and some ducting. I want to make a DIY CoolTube but currently can't find a good glass piece at 6'' diameter. Also, PLEASE SOMEONE COMMENT on my ducting and anything they think I should do.

My babys are looking good for the most part.

Found a glass piece. Doesn't really fit. So I am buying Epoxy Putty that is made to withstand 500 degree F. Hopefully superglue putty will stick it on there. I think I'm going to keep an open side and blow air into it from another fan thats blowing air in the whole room to increase CFM.

I lost a Skunk today, the one I "lost". That's ok. I expected to lose it and it was a bitch to water twice a day. Also, now it's a misdemeanor instead of a felony :D.

Anyways, plants are looking very healthy. All have their first 2 leafs.

What's up sky? Don't know much about ventilation, but glad to see you're getting your problems solved. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see some buddage.

Got my new shitty pH meter which I thought was electric but evidently is not. So I decided to check the pH of everything. Sadly, it looked like it was not working when I stuck it in all 4 pots, and the water..And then I realized, lets check the run off!

So I flushed my plants because they were dry enough and I let the water drain for a long time. They will be under light for another 8 hours so I think it will dry out fast enough for the plant to be able to breath. The pH of the water PLUNGED (and I say that cause 6-7 = half the meter, pic later) down to 6.5! Perfect! This was all 4 plants pH, it might be non-scientific, but I'm satisfied that my pH meter works and that all my plants and water are Neutral ^_^!

Will update with pictures later.

Also I'm curious. Does my soil look too dry in the picture before my last post? I don't think I understand what is the point at when I'm supposed to water. I've read over and over when the first inch of soil is dry, but whats dry? Like NO MOISTURE (when the topsoil looks like sand), or a little moisture (when the soils a brownish, not the dark dark chocolate when you flush or water them).

Also my temperature seems to be good after I flushed them. It's staying at 73 instead of 81. Am I making it too dry and it's heating up the surface? (My thermometer is on the surface of the soil pointing down to avoid light/heat rays.

I've been slowly spraying them with water every day or other for water. It seemed to keep the 1-2'' dry/wet and go back and forth consistently. Is this good? Should I keep doing this? I didn't spray much.

I KNOW PEOPLE HAVE BEEN READING, PLEASE GIVE ME OPINIONS!

Can you elaborate bull? Thanks for the comment. How wet, what color is the topsoil and how far down should it be this dry when I water. I don't want to lose any more babies so I'd like to know instead of go into and learn.

If you can answer these I'd appreciate it ALOT.
