Skunk #1 phenotype variation

I've grown Seedsman feminized sk#1, and out of the 3 I've harvested I've gotten 3 phenos. One has fat buds and a grape aroma, whereas the other 2 have smaller buds and either a "juicy-fruit" or a minty aroma. The effects are similar, although the juicy fruit might have a little more body in higher doses. Is there supposed to be a lot of variability in this line, or is something weird going on?

Also, I usually grow singles from femmed seeds, so how much variation is typically seen in seed batches?

ive got a 5 pack of fems which im waiting to germinate just after new year, was there much height variation when they were vegging?

Hi Zesk,

Can't say if there was much variation in height because I scrogged them. They seemed pretty consistent in veg and flower as far as growth and stretch go. The only other variation I noticed besides the smell and yield was that the minty pheno had narrower, more pointy sativa-like leaves. Effects are good across the board. A bit less potent than WW or masterkush, but very nice otherwise. Enjoy your grow.

my greatest producer/smell/high was a slight grape smell when busting up the weed but only a bit then its that dank skunk smell you want. the buds were green w/ almost no hairs when i harvested.

Thanks for all the replies. How many phenotypes are in an average pack of seeds? For any strain, not just skunk. I'm trying to get an idea if there is uniformity or a lot of diversity in the strains.

Depends on what they were crossed with. All regular seeds will have different pheno types. The more you pop the more different types you will have. They will resemble the parent plants and what they inherit from there crosses.

Considering skunk #1 is supposed to be true breeding, there should be very few variations. It sounds to me like they may be F2's of skunk 1 as this is where more variations of phenotype will show up. The pure from seedsman is supposed to be the real deal as it is sam the skunk mans original skunk 1 genetics that seedsman acquired from him. Other great skunks that are close to the original are flying dutchmen and mr nice shit, if you are looking for real skunk that is

I got a 10 pack of regular seeds from dutch passion. I'm going to keep track of these and post about how many pheno types I find. From my understanding skunk #1 isn't as stable as they claim. At least that's what subcool claims. So I'm going to buy a 10 pack every so months and really find this shit out.

Dutch Passion is a sub-par breeder with Many hermy-reports and pissed-off customers. About the only strain I'd run from them is Skunk#11, which is reportedly a good, stable, and potent skunk.

Been running durban poison from them and had no problems. I didn't get feminised seeds, so I'm not worried about hermie problems. From my experience stress is what causes problems. I've even ran gg4 which is a hermie made strain and no problems.
I'm stoked and excited to add some skunk 1 to my grows. I'm looking for different pheno types not just one. Skunk 11 is just one pheno of skunk#1 that is good.

I'd personally recommend Sensi Seeds, we ran their super skunk last year under only CFLs and it was Fantastic !!! SUPER- HIGH calyx-to-leaf ratio, very stinky, resinous buds. It was extremely easy to grow and a sheer pleasure to smoke -

There were a few different line breeds of Skunk back in the day. I've been curious about Skunk #11 but my experience with DP is very lacking. Not hermies, just shitty overhyped plants.

AFAIK it's not a single phenotype of skunk #1. It's a different direction from the same old combination of parents line bred to be stable in a different way from skunk #1.

Well like the thread says skunk#1 different pheno types. I wanna know about all the different pheno types from skunk#1. I was hoping to get schooled about skunk #1 so if you got info on them write about cause I'm interested.

I will do my best, drawing from the lore I've absorbed over the years. Off the top of my head, Skunk#1 is comprised of : Acapulco Gold, Mexican Highland, and Afghani, (if I'm not mistaken). It is a stabilized hybrid, so the plants tend to grow very uniform, with minimal differences / variation. High calyx-to-leaf ratio. Mostly (75%) Sativa, she tends to have long internodes, but yields well (especially when pruned). Strong "up" high, THE strain which set the standard in the 1980's, still a great strain today. That's about all I can remember, without looking up the info.

Well, it was a collective breeding effort back in the day on the west coast. Started in the late 70's. Used Afghani, Oaxacan and Acupulco Gold... mixed em up and then started breeding. I'm pretty sure the Afghani represented 1/4 of the genetic donation as opposed to 1/2 as it's a sativa dominant variety. Anyway after they were first mixed, a few different lines were worked from the original hybrid. Which is why you have different #'s but they're still called skunk. So it is a different expression of the same original parents. Hypothetically these expressions could be very dramatically different but from what I've seen I think the #11 is a more sativa dominant expression of the classic skunk.

Can you get skunk 11 in regular seeds? I've heard about some orange pheno in skunk, and that's what I'm after. The juicy fruit,and the orange one. I totally know that it could be a waste of time but damn it sure is fun.
I think I'm going to stock up on different breeders skunk#1. And just start popping seeds. Now I'm also interested in the difference in breeders as well.
