Sixstring's Cob Build

Old school trick for scissors.

Lightly coat the blades with olive oil and they don't gunk up with resin.

Olive oil also helps get the resin off your fingers (if you're not using gloves)

well i've gone way past hobby build now and my ole lady would be pissed if she knew what i have spent on this lil project lmao. had to get some stuff to make my life easier,plus i been eyeballin this drill for a min anyhow haha.didnt get a damn thing done on the lights today,but im setup good for tomorrow i was shocked the laser was lined up perfect with the drill bit out of the box considering its a ryobi and they went into great detail on adjusting those in the assembly inst.


im pretty sure she's gunna be pissed when she see's this shit in the livingroom tomorrow when she gets home lol.

Build her a shoe rack real quick so when she sees it and gets mad, divert her to the shoe rack and see "Look what I made for you!".

so i had to leave town for a few but i managed to get home early enough last night to almost finish up 2 more panels and wire up the first one.holy shit these things are bright without reflectors its way too easy to look into the light lol.
took a few rips off the camera and snapped some pics haha.im using 16 ga stranded wire and it does fit these ideal cob holders it is a bitch to get it in there without tinning the wire ends.i may go shopping today for some solid core idk.

It was brought to my attention by @robincnn that those shitty black n green connectors are only rated for 24v which i could not find info on.but after seeing and using them they are better suited for pc fans maybe.so i will be using wago or just solder for these connections but it does make testing dif drivers easy on my desktop.leaning towards wagos for the fact i can swap drivers in the grow if i feel the 1050ma is not enough power for my plants.

Those green black DC adaptors are rated 12V 3 Amp here in datasheet

I would not recommend them for anything over 24V.

finally got some free time to hang a few bars in my flower room.i also busted out the light meter after they warmed up tonight and took some readings.it seems from most places i took readings @ 24 in from the cob im getting higher numbers than a 600w mh and even higher than an older hps 600.i do have a new hps in there that gives almost identical readings @ 24 in,that one is less than a week old and the cool tube is pretty much spotless.33,000 to 34,000 lumen @ 24 in from the cobs running 1050ma,not too shabby.most my mh lamps are hitting about 16,00 to 20,000 and the older hps were around 25,000 to 27,000 but all those lamps are due to be changed on july 4th,they will be 6 months old then.still need to do some wire clean up and i might put a small fan on the drivers just because they are in a spot that dont get much air movement.be right back with some pics from my phone.

im really diggin how the pics come out under these cobs.such a pain taking decent pics under hps lol

They make great light for almost anything.

nice lights dude. I like to see folks transition from HPS/MH to COB's. Nice tools shop in the living room. When I was married I used to have s shop where I built motorcycles, now I am divorced and looking for a new shop. I have full welding, painting, capabilities. peace.

just a lil update on the first run which started 10 days into flower for this plant.pretty impressed with the cobs so far @ 1050ma and i will be setting up the other side with 1400ma to see if theres a sig difference.
the plant is a first run from seed,jaws chem soda cookies @ 11 weeks ,damn that was too long haha.

and heres the first real test for me,one of my trusty mk from day one.ill also use the mk for that first run under the 1400ma side ,,,if robin and gg ever get their new shipments in lol.

To you...how did it/is it stacking up to your usual method plants(600w cooltubes?). Yield wise, size wise...can't imagine better quality then those pics, but quality wise? I may be jumping the gun on the questions, and you haven't harvested, but give us the run down when you get it. Looks killer, and very impressive.

I have had 2000 sinks...just they are without reflector holes(only holder holes). If you really need sinks, I can grab you those and some M3 self tappers, if you needed too. Let me know. DIY sinks(holder and adapter ready) are on the ocean still.

No i can wait for the drilled sinks and then get all that other stuff at once.im not in a big hurry just excited to build more bars. I will prob try 1 or 2 of those bigger drivers also when the new ones get here.
The yield looks good from my trim shesh last night,hard to tell witu cookie crosses but those buds are all super dense so the weight should be there.once i smoke some tester nugs i will let you know,ill probably grab a few out of the rack by Wednesday lol.top shelf of the racks always dries fast around here
I think that mk i just tossed under the bars will give me alot more data on cobs because i never ran that csc cross i just harvested and she was a picky bitch all through flower.

I really look forward to seeing the 1000mA against the 1400mA. I think youve got some great stuff going on in here, and I really look forward to seeing more of it. I think most of us want a better idea of how to compare footprint size at different intensities. Badly put, but you probably get it. I cant believe how incredibly big your plants are. How do you train them? Keep building! Like Build it Bob and Obama, you can do it!
