Simple RSO

Hey Yall,
Well my latest harvest ended up going south on me, late herm. Well, i figured I could make some RSO out of it. Ive read through many posts on a lot of different sites etc. Including the phoenix tears page. Its pretty overwhelming, science wise. I wanted to try it the most basic way. I bought a cheapo hotplate and mag mixer (ebay) and I was going to do the ethanol way, for the first time, maybe ill go ISO if this turns out alright.

I currently have my jar, and bottle of Everclear in the freezer. Was going to soak them together for about an hour, strain through coffee filter. From there, refreeze solution, and run through filter again. Maybe a third time if i see I'm still pulling out lipids etc.

And from there place in my beaker on the hotplate and reduce down to a slurry. Intending on decarbing afterwards whilst removing that final water from the Everclear.

Will this be the best, most definitely not. Just hoping i can make something from this.

Let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

I don't like RSO because of the solvents used in the recipes I've seen.

DJ check out this recipe using the magical butter machine - uses ever clear as the only solvent and the video content is first rate:

At one point the chef reduces the solution so it's pretty much a clean RSO.

Thanks for this. I have seen it before and own a MB2 as well. Ive never made the tincture using it though. Have always just made infused coconut oil.
Maybe Ill give it a try.
A little confused about the solvent part as you mentioned. And Everclear is essentially ethanol. Were you referring to the ISO?

Everclear is a brand of alcohol 190 proof, you may have to order it in to your local liquor store.

I steer clear of ISO.

Until you have a little experience I wouldn't use ISO. It's a little toxic if not done right. I'd use EC.

People that have the Magic Buter machines seem to like them. I don't have one but that's ONLY because it doesn't fit In with my lab such as it is. One is on my wishlist.

Sorry if I led you to believe I didn't know what it was. Yea man, local liquor store has it in my area. Luckily not one of the illegal states for that.
And about the Isopropyl, yea won't be touching that for a while.

Yea, definitely won't be going ISO untill I figure out if this is something I actually want to produce. Right now just working with some garbage that I won't smoke. Messing around untill I have it locked in.
I've had the magic butter for a couple years now and I love it for butter and coconut oil. I know it can make tinctures as well. Just haven't tried. Definitely worth the investment if you use it. Me, I use it about twice and year, make large batches, then store. I actually think I loan it out more then I personally use it .

I've been reading about a new process that uses ISO and about 2 oz of EC. I'd like to try it but really don't have the time to change over right now. RSO V2.0. Going from memory :eyesmoke: Darn, I can't remember. I think the website that has it is graywolfslair.com, might be grayfox. That is a good place to go. He has a lot of stuff and it all looks text book perfect.

Thanks for chiming in. I spend as much time there as I can. Good stuff.

I have a question. Can you decarb cold under vacuum? I been trying it the last couple of times. What happens is oil is thick and looks like a solid sponge and traps the bubbles. I was running 24.5hg and 30C.

Edit: Changed 300C to 30C
