Me and my friends were at a party and left cuz we heard cops were on the way. When we left my friend called us cuz we had forgot him so we pulled over in front of a house. Right after we pulled up in front of the house a cop rolled up behind us but he didn't flash his lights or anything then he came up to the car and asked to lower the window. He smelled bud cuz we had just gotten done gettin blazed so he told us to step out the car. He arrested me for having a bag that didn't even have .1 of bud and gave me a traffic ticket for $620. I spent the night in jail and the next morning the dude who was driving came and picked me and my friend(who also got arrested) up from the jail. They gave me a court date for the 14th of May. I don't have money for a lawyer and I'm trying to keep this shit from my parents. How do I go about getting a lawyer from the court and do I have to pay the $620 before I go to court? Cuz I don't have that much fuckin money lol. I'm 17 and I'm tryna find a way to get away with this shit without it being on my record. They recommended pti but I don't really wanna use my one get out of jail free card on less than fuckin .1 of bud. So should I plea guilt/not guilty or what do you guys recommend me do. Oh and the cop said the reason he came up to the car was because we were parked in the middle of the street which we weren't so could I use this to my advantage when I go to court? Pls help with advice. FUCK PIGS

good luck not lettin the parents find out somehow eventually...

When u go to that first court date, thats the cause hearing/arraignment. You will be listed your rights and asked if you understand, and if you would like an attorney before going further, you say "yes your honor, I need a court appointed please." they will assign the local public defender, give u another court date....

And ALWAYS plead NOT GUILTY, get an attorney, if you decide together later theres no way out, no better option, you can change to guilty/no contest.

Never ever just give in from the start..... Always "Not guilty, I understand, I need a lawyer" and thats all.

i don't know where you live, but in Maine you can't get a public pretender unless the threat of jail time is involved...

they will most likely offer you a plea deal in which you plead guilty and they give you 6 months unsupervised probation. At the end of the 6 months its removed from your record. It's the best way to go Id say if youre trying to keep it off your record. you're prolly not gonna be able to keep it from your parents since all the court papers will be sent to you at home through the mail. you dont have to pay anything until after you plea or are found guilty. You can set up payment plans or just pay it is as you can
