Side Lighting with HPS/MH Fixtures

Hello dear RIU fellas! :-)

I've done side lighting before with different lights & setups. For my current grow I was thinking again about hanging vertical MH bulbs between plants for veg and vertical HPS bulbs for bloom, but I've heard that using MH for side lighting in flowering results in way more bud sites and bigger yields than HPS. I will have a total worth of 3000w sodium bulbs on top of the canopy anyway, but wanted to ask for your opinions and experiences about using MH as side light in 12/12.

I appreciate your helps guys.

I wanna run my kooltube hps and my mh vertically. I think id grow to love it.
Side lighting is VERY beneficial IMO, but the key part is to choose the right distance and the right height. Also you have to make a balance between your top lighting and side lighting.

I'm now wondering if using MH as side lighting in flowering really has more advantages over HPS? Any idea? I've never tried this before.

Am trying to figure out how im gonna hang the 400 mh
Be careful that the light doesn't directly reach the bottom side of the leaves. Plants don't like it at all! Try to manage the height of your bulb in a way that light only reaches the stem, shoots and top side of your leaves.

A little update on this subject:

For my last run I used a 600W HPS on top and a 400W MH as side lighting and was able to pull over 12oz of dried buds from 1 Master Kush plant! :D All my plants matured pretty quickly in flowering and I think this fixture plays a role in enhancing the taste and smell of buds.
