Sickmeds: Green Crack S1 Feminized

My preference for a 45 day finish is based on different trials that we've done. First of all, I apologize that I'm not able to post pics, I'm not exactly tech savvy (I don't own a camera, or a phone even, I spend half the year in the bush without power). But, me and my doggs have tried everything from 6.5 weeks to 8 to 10 to 12 weeks. You can pull bigger yields leaving the lady go longer but 45 days gives you an almost psychedelic high. I had quit toking for about 3 weeks a couple winters ago, on my first time smoking rolled a bomber of G.C. and pretty much freaked myself out! Our theory for the name is that if you are a light-weight or inexperienced with this strain you might focus on the fact that G.C. can make you a bit twitchy and paranoid ie. "cracked-out".

I think I may try harvesting my 3 GCs at different times all depending on the trichome's and what not. Before I would like to wait intel some of the calyx's started to pop? Anyone know what I mean? But i'm sure for some strains that may be to long. I dont own a magnifying glass that can actually show me the colour of the trichome. So i usually go off like 75-80% hair colour change and like I said some popped calyx's which I think makes the buds look right awesome (You hardly ever get buds that mature off the street, all those guys are about is money).

Usually when the calyxes swell (which is what you're talking about) the plant is in its last week or two. IMO that's a bit of a better sign than just hair color, but you have to consider everything: hair color, overall bud development, calyx swelling, trichrome color, etc.

In terms of magnifying glasses, people use all kinds of fancy magnifiers and microscopes. I've tried all these things, and I find the best tool for me is just a simple 30x or 40X folding jeweller's loupe.

You can buy one on Ebay and have it shipped to your door for $5. Some of these even have build in LED lights, now, too. EG something like this:

Day 42 flower:

The purple isn't showing up under HPS light, but its there. Here's some closeups to give an idea of bud structure.

Resin glands are creeping out onto the fan leaves.

Day 42? you may have to go more then 45 days from the looks of the pictures. HPS can make it look different from what I can see from the pic and what you can truelly see. None the less looking awesome, not the biggest looking buds being sativa dom they may do most of there bulking up near the end.

I also just put in my order for a microscope off of ebay

fuck yeah looks awesome you can definitely see a difference in 3 days. I just had a room meltdown go in the room and a 400w bulb is burnt out after getting home after work at 6pm. I'm completely out of 400w MH bulbs just have 400w HPS. I figured I would just switch out both for my 1000w digital ballast which I had to wire a hood for. I wired it up and turn it on bam blow a fuse and I'm no eletrictrition so i figure I must of wired it wrong to make it short out. So i wire it again try it bam blow a another fuse, now I'm getting mad and I only got a few fuses left so I take it all apart....nothing wrong inside as far as I can see. So I think maybe the 15 amp fuse isnt enough so I put a 20 in try it, blow the breaker/fuse on the ballast itself this time (atleast I can just push that in every time it shorts out, it wouldnt blow the actual fuse in my fuse box anymore which I have nooo idea why). So i grab my cool tube with a digital ballast plug in on it and plug it in and try, blow the fuse. I know the cool tube works so my best guess is the ballast is broke. I tried opening it up so I could do some conductinuity tests on some wires to maybe figure out whats wrong and to my enjoyment one fucking lilll ass screws they use I cannot get out nooo matter how hard I tried and now its stripped. Stupid fucking phillips screws robertsons are the only screw in my toolbelt. So the ballast is garbage I guess but I'll keep it around incase. So i get out my old core ballast 1000MH so I start to try and wire the hood onto it and for about 2 hrs I couldnt get the fucking wires to stay under the screws they'd slip out as the screw went down(way to small of a head on the screw). Then when I'd finally get it all 3 wires hooked up I'd go to close it up which you have to twist the wires in and one would always slip out. I was almost about to give up. I FINALLY got it and now all my plants are sucking up the rays under the 1000. Which basically took me upto 30 minutes ago (1:30am to finish by the time i finished watering) I'm beat tired didn't even have time to eat dinner and I gotta wakeup at 7am tomorrow and work again.

Here's a groupshot as of today all under the 1000. Been experimenting with a bunch of supercropping to control the height.P1260001.jpg

Update day 50:

GrCRday50flower (1).jpgGrCRday50flower (3).jpg

Again, color is a little bit off under HPS lighting, but as you can see, most of the trichrome heads have turned milky white. I probably "could" chop now for an early harvest, but at this point I'm basically just waiting for some of them to turn amber before I chop. Figure it should be another week or so.

Jorgo you have lovely flowers right there, nice job, sir.

Im curious about this GC strain are light or heavy feeder ?

thanks :D

Thank you.
The plant will be coming down shortly with the best pictures yet to come.

Honestly, no idea. I'm not growing it with hydroponics, and at no point did I see either nute burn or nutrient deficiency.

What I can say is that *I* am a light feeder.

When it comes to nutes, I believe "less is more" and I also think people spend WAY too much time and money worrying about this. Sure, if you're growing hydro, nute formulas matter (although even there I think there is a pretty good range of what can "work"). If you're trying to absolutely maximize yield in a commercial grow, tuning the nutes is part of that.

But I'm not doing either thing, and bluntly if I get "only" 2 ounces when I "could" have gotten 2.2 ounces, I don't care. The potential to hurt plants (and especially flavor) by pushing the nutes too hard is more of a concern for me than not getting the absolute max possible yield. In the meantime, any good commercial soil mix should all by itself contain enough nutes for 1-2 grows, obviously more if you supplement them.

I think the entire grow so far I've fed three times, and I'm not feeding any more. I also gave one shot of epsom salts about four weeks into flower, because I like to give a bit of supplemental magnesium then. I don't usually feed in early veg, but in this case I did one time because the plant leaves were so light green and I was concerned about nitrogen deficiency. Turns out that this strain just grows lighter green in color than many others, so I didn't push it any more after that.

Me myself with the green cracks feed them at 800 ppm during veg which is normal and they don't get any burns not one. Ill bring them all the way upto 1200-1300ppm in bloom. So far they are behaving like any regular feeder I've encountered. Not like no g13. I also feed them every watering flusing once during veg with final flush(supposively grabs the salt buildup and flushes it out with it). Aswell as once during flower at week 3 which I usually let them dry up real good after(puts a bit of good stress on them). Then flush for the last week if your usually final flush 2weeks without. I only flush because I use all synthetic nutrients. If your going organic flushing can be really harmful.

Day 55, update:

First of all, I'll start by saying that the description of this strain claims 45-55 days flowering time, and as you can probably see by the below images, this one does appear done. Almost every hair/pistil is brown, the fan leaves are turning mottled, and most of the trichromes heads are milky white, so much so that you don't even need a lens to appreciate it.

So even though this probably "could" be legitimately chopped now, I'm not really seeing more than the occasional amber trichrome, so I'm going to "push my luck" here and let this go a little bit longer to get some more amber before chopping. I don't expect more than a week (max).

Note the sativa-like round bud structure, high resin content and overall purpling of the plant! Temps never got too cold, as low as 62F during the dark period.

The plant was so unexpectedly stretchy during flowering that I ended up "supercropping" the longer limbs to reduce overall vertical height. You can see the bends in the large stems in the first image. Back in the day, we used to call that "bending/breaking", but now some internet wags decided its called "supercropping. Anyway, knowing now how stretchy this gets and how the lower limbs develop, if I had to do it again, I'd probably use a SCROG or maybe more early training/bending instead of this.

Can you feel the purple? This was there in the last several updates, you just couldn't see it under yellow HPS lighting:
