showing sex

i have read and heard a lot of people saying that if you give a plant enough time that it will show its sex with out bein put into 12/12. I wanna know around when do they do this because every time i have grown i have never seen it happen and are the preflowers visable without a microscope? Also my plants have little tiny white hairs growing out of the stem right by the leaves but they are very small and look like the rest of the hair on the plants but could they possibly be preflowers? Thanks in advace!

I dont know about the microscope idea. But I know that once a plant gains full maturity it will show sex (even if not flowering yet).

the white little hairs are good cause when the male releases its pauland sacks the pauland drops onto the white hairs and slowly moves down them towards the section where the main stem and a branch con-junk

Ok. I was asking about actual preflowers while in veg. That's good that they have the hairs then cuz I was planning on breeding them if one is a girl and the other is a boy. Does anyone know which one starts smelling of weed first in veg? Or do they both start at the same time. Also does it matter if you turn the lights on and off at different times as long as the plant still gets 12/12?

no man i wouldnt change the lighting times..try to stick to a "sunrise and set" so they dont get stressed. and ive had acouple grow in 18/6 and they showed their sex before 12/12 but it was about 9 weeks total. had some females and a male..but in the same grow i had acouple that didnt show its sex tell i put them on 12/12 after that long.

3-5 weeks, the microscope helps, it can be difficult to distinguish sex from early pre-flowers because they are sometimes deformed and sometimes the female preflowers wont put out pistils on some of them so while its usually easy to tell it nevers hurts to flip em to 12/12 and confirm it before deciding wether to kill a plant or not, I always do.
