I too would lower the lights closer. But thats me. You say it is your 3rd grow then you must have learned some stuff by now. I like to mix up the lights best for the stage I am in. I like the theroy "more light the better". To a degree. I use CFL's and Floro tubes. Got two 4' long wide spectrum grow floro tubes and two 4' day-light floro tubes. They are in 2 four foot shop ballasts. I also have eight 24 watt CFL's, equal to 100 watt each, all mixed in color temps for each stage i am in. I would put a pic up but i lost my camera some-where. My first grow ever I only used 2 floro tubes because i was not educated on growing. I now try to read all I can and absorb the information in my tiny little brain. Knowledge equals intellect. Intellect equals the understanding of knowledge. Understanding intellect equals wisdom and in the end wisdom is far superior to all.

Damn, I new you had some wattage to those babies lol.. + rep for those beauties!

I just was able to harvest my SR so that wonderwoman is hogging up about 250watts to herself so hopefully I'll see some serious bud growth in the next week :)

For somebody that hates CFLs you sure do spend alot of time in this thread. Your like one of those gay bashing republicans that comes out of the closet. I think you have some CFL grow going somewhere, prolly in the closet, and your too ashamed to admit it. So whenever your ready to come out of the closet, we will all be here for you and support you.

Even though your an asshole who hasnt made a single constructive comment about anything except how bad CFLs are. At least we have actually grown pot. (Proof is in the pics)

Most of these photos show lights that are mounted in ways which will make it very hard to move them. And they are way to far away from the plants. (1"-3" is what I like) I have found the best way to mount the lights are with the 8.5 inch shop light reflectors with clamp. I then suspend some of them from braided line, and others from a pre built rack, that is adjustable. On my crops I used this system on the veg cycle. I did like the Mini Frig Grow though.
At this time I am doing a Ghetto grow. Because of loseing all my equipment a few years back. My first Crop was with CFL's. and it produces some amazeing Buds. I had 4 plants surrounded by (12) 43 watt soft white cfls. (In flowering)... You can see some of these in my old journals. But I will be going back to a HPS light when I can. 12x43watts=560 watts. I can get much better coverage from one 400 watt hps. I will probably go with a 600 watt air cooled HPS light. But with these cfl's, I can buy them 3 at a time as I need more. Then once I am done with this crop. they can be used for side lights on my real grow.

dumpster, i say this out of all the CFL grows yours arent that bad.
That being said i still believe it a waste time if u are looking for yield.
Sure, i wish i had 4 or 5 labs to do all kinds of experiments, but i dont..
i screw up i dont eat.
I did however love the fact that u place bulbs on side of buckets.(smart thinking)
believe it or not i may ty some of yer techniques on my moms. Always heat issues with T12. but maybe a CFL combo might work
so thanks for helping me see something new. Sometimes arguments make people think outside the box.

ok I have 4 plants in a cardboard grow box. 2 plants i started from seed and i received 2 clones already rooted.

The small ones are from seed. the strains are Raw diesel from g13 labs, and Vanilla kush from barneys farm.These i plant on growing out to be mother plants.

The clones are a strain called Mk,that about all i know about them.I started bending these cuz im going to flower next week on the 1st.

i got the canopy about 1-3 " away from the bulbs.

92 watt's of cfl- 4 23 watt bulbs

This is the Frame i built that is around my plants. The center frame can be raised or lowered, and then 1"x4" pieces cross the fram that can be moved side to side. The frame fits tight enough that I can slide it up with two hands, and then hold it with one, while placing an aligator clamp below the corners. dangly bits, what size cfl is that big one in the middle? I grow with cfl's and I like them I am growing for 2 of us and although I have used hid I am still happy with the results of cfl's. I no longer have the HPS or MH, but I am still growing some nice buds. I have found the 55w (300w equivalent) 2700k cfls at wally world for 12 bucks and the 42 watters 2700 and 6500 k for 8. A lot easier to just buy a few at a time than to go out and spend a couple hundred on a BIG light. I have no camera, but I got decent plants not as nice as some you guys but enough to stink the house up figure 3/4 to an oz per plant. Next plants are just going 12/12 and I topped them should be a bit better.
