Yes I have smacked my children and no I don't think it does any harm to do it, they have all grown up and are stable loving caring human beings. They were smacked when they deserved it and were told why they were smacked. I was smacked as a child and regularly beaten by my father as a teenager as he was an alcoholic, and was caned at school more than once but I didn't grow up into a violent out of control nut case. Children have to know whats right and wrong and if they won't be told and carry on when asked to stop then they must have a smack.

lol at ' ohmods please delete what i dont like lol
you should be thanking folks who dont approve of your crack use and want it out of your life. we understand. denial is typical of addiction. not all kids are the same. spankings by proper parents are done FOR a child not To a child. when you grow up a little more yourself you may develope the maturity to realize all kids learn differently. from what ive seen, many times its the parents who are more in need of the spanking than the kids. i hope your right about your daughter. i hope you never have to look down at her dead body and say "damn, i wish i had done more to restrain her reckless behaviour."

Why did you start this thread?.

Because I was wondering if people who post here believe in hitting their kids these days, if they believe it's an effective tool of discipline

He's a sick Fuck!! A sexuality Mod who wants different opinions on how people beat their kids!! He's a Sick Man!
Lol

I didn't ask 'how' people hit their kids, I asked 'if' they did, and if they did, why they felt it was OK or effective

Physical "punishment" (or however you want to call it) by parents shows a lack of power/control. Control your kids with words and you will also teach them to be able to (better) influence others (including their kids) with words.

You can break the stem and patch it up and still get great bud, doesn't mean it wouldn't have been more and better if that never happened.

Being a single mother raising two sons is pretty challenging. My nine year old son is a very large boy, he's almost my height and currently weighs 10 lbs more than I do. (I have a male cousin who is 7'2" I have big genes in me, I just didn't get them) I am 115 lbs, 5'5" even if I wanted to spank my child, I don't think I could physically do it, my knee would break.
I was on a road trip with my kids last summer, the eldest was 8 years old and sitting in the front, my little guy was 6. They were bickering back and forth as kids often do. I was trying my best to diffuse them but they kept it up...drive me kind of nuts. My 6 year old finally got so mad with his brother, he picked up a long plastic water squirter gun and reached over and smacked his bro in the back of the head with it. OMG! complete mayhem broke out! My 8 year old let out this ear splitting scream and went for his brother, fists flying. I pulled over, grabbed the gun, jumped out and smashed it over my knee. Then I though it on the pavement and jumped the shit out of it. People were passing and I didn't even care. By the time I was finished, there was nothing only little pieces of plastic and springs everywhere. I open the door, looked in at two very white faces and tossed in what I could pick up of the gun. There was noting but peace and quiet for hours after that. No child was hit that day but they got the message loud and clear. When they start squabbling now, I bring up that day...they stop really quick. Being a parent is harder than i ever imagined and we don't always do the right things but we must learn to control ourselves. I lost control that day but lucky for them the gun got it and not them.

Being a parent is the hardest yet most rewarding job any adult can ever have. Have I ever spanked my children hell yes I have . I will also tell you this. My children love me dearly and tell me so very often. They are both grown adults now and one has 2 children of her own. I am by no means saying everyone should spank their children . But mine needed it at times. I did have rules for myself about spanking my children. One was I never spanked them if I was mad. That was just a rule I had for myself. I will say one more thing. A spanking will get a child's attention quicker than anything else will at certain times.

nope, no need to hit a damn kid for any reason. If kid does something wrong it's most likely, because of bad parenting.

I will be spanking my kids for extreme misbehavior.

Nothing wrong with a spanking. A good spanking will not bruise or injure the child. Just surprise them and make them realize that the parent is the authority. A spanking should be unpleasant and cause a tingling pain on the bum cheek.

It is not traumatizing at all.

That is just ignorant. Kids constantly test the boundries. Some kids are discouraged enough with timeouts and groundings. Other kids will keep on going.

A spanking is not a beating. People need to realize that spanking is in no way abusive to the child. It is a final resort that can stop the child from engaging in risky/dangerous behavior.

Just a smack on the ass is nothing expecially if they are still in diapers they barley feel it. I've heard of kids laughing at their parents because of them not smacking their ass that hard with diapers on

I don't know if i've been lucky but I've never felt like I ever had to hit my kid. He's great. I feel if you have the wits and the smarts the the communication skills there's not need to hit. People try to teach there kids that Violence is wrong but yet use hitting as a form of teaching kids how they should behave.
