Should I start flushing now? Day 42

I am on day 42 of flowering and up until three days ago I was using CFL but now I am under a 400w hps. All bagseed, and this is my first grow ever so I am not the best grower ever clearly. I checked the trics and they look cloudy, and even some amber color here and there.

So should I start flushing now or wait a week or so?

it doesnt go by looks, hairs arent an indicator, some stains wont have hair color change at all,he said that he has cloudys, then if he waits to flush it will be to late and it wont be a good smoke bc chemicals.if he flushes now,in 2 weeks it will be ready for harvest.

i say give them a week then decided one week will not hurt nothing..... if any thing see much changes over the next couple of days...

THATS INTERESTING. IVE NEVER SEEN HERB WITHOUT BROWN,RED, OR ORANGE HAIRS. DO YOU KNOW WHICH STRAIN IT IS, THAT DOES NOT CHANGE HAIR COLOR?

YOU REALLY THINK THAT? THAT WOULD BE COOL, FOR SURE BUT, ID HAVE TO THINK WE HAVE FOUND ALL THE HERB AROUND THIS PLANET. IM SURE PEOPLE HAVE THER IS SOME OUT THERE THAT HASNT BEEN SMOKED YET, BUT ID BET WE HAVE FOUND MOST OF THE INDICA AND SATIVA STRAINS THE WORLD HAS TO OFFER. THATS HOW WE HAVE MADE ALL THE GREAT STAINS WE SMOKE TODAY. AT LEAST THATS WHAT I THINK. I DONT KNOW SHIT

Hi Lemon Herb, 1st of all Great Job for first grow they look great! Last week I harvested a big lady with nice colas like yours and the Pistils where long and white, but the trichs where cloudy and a amber here and there. Well I sit her in the dark for 24hrs and cut her down before the lights came on. After a Long week of drying and another Long week of curing, WOW im glad I checked the trichs because those pistils where lookin like yours ( not ready ).
TRICHS DON'T LIE----Oh by the way thats her ( AVATAR ).

dude, if your trichs are really starting to turn amber then you really need to cut now. It's about trich color, not date, or even appearance. You want to harvest at the first signs of amber trichs - keep in mind that you need a 40-70x magnifier to properly evaluate the color/state of trichs. That's some truth for you brudda

I have one of those radio shack magnifier things. I pulled off three leaves and I saw on amber colored tric out of all of them, the rest were pretty uniformly cloudy. I will check again in a few days to see if there is any change. Thanks for the compliments too, it hasn't been too hard but not easy by any stretch.

you're not there yet. though it is true that there are strains whose hairs do not turn red - that is the exception and not the rule. if i were dealing with an unknown strain and had put 49 days into it - i would wait and see.

it is also true that trich's don't lie but you should also be aware that just because you cut a couple of leaves and see a few amber/cloudy trichs (out of hundreds) doesn't mean it's time for a frantic chop. i am using the same method (same radioshack scope and all) and it is apparent to me that lower buds tend to mature more rapidly -not to mention that those leaves that you picked may be closer than others to your light source [eg. CFL grows] which can cause an amber trich prematurely. is it true that you are getting close? certainly.

is it also equally true that you are likely to have a hybrid that could take an extra week or so? yea
your plants look lovely, hang in there - it will be worth it.
just my 2c

well I had planned to start my flush yesterday on one of my plants, I prepared the water for that one seperate and all. But I got distracted and ended up watering it with nutes too..

So I will probably start my flush friday when I water again, I'll have more pictures then too.

i dont think they are ready at all, 2-3 weeks more. those colas should be at least packing on trichs.

thats a tough call, if you have 3/4 cloudy trichs and 1/4 amber then id say if you want a good energetic high chop soon, the more uniformly amber the more heavy sedative, medicinal stone you'll have,
the hairs being an indicator tho seen like it could go a couple more weeks, but i agree that the trichs are the more accurate indicator,
its your grow, itll get ya baked either way so do what you want and congrats on a nice lookin grow

haha i can't believe this thread is still going... anyways, check the trichs on the top bu buds to see if your plant is ready. You want to get an overall feel of the plant's trichs but start at the cola(s).

And no, you can't naked eye your trichs. You have to use magnification.

That's where I have been looking, haven't even checked the bottom ones. And of course always using magnification.
