Hi guys.

I'm currently halfway through my first grow. I'm growing 4 autoflowers. They have been under a 300w dual spectrum CFL. I added a 105 wat CFL lower down and it made a difference already. I would love to add more light but don't have loads of cash to splash. Id like a light that would penitrate better than my CFL's.
would this LED help during this stags? I cant use hps as to much heat. I know you need to spend alot for a decent LED... But would this do for now... Or be a waste of money? Its a 300w mast hydro... Actual watt is 130. Its £69.00. Would I be getting ripped off?

appreciate any ideas and help.

here is a link if u wanna check it out

cheers guys

its only something to add to the cfl's I already have. I want something that will penetrate further and give me denser buds and more yield. Will ot make much difference to yield if I only have say 3 weeks left?

cheers

most weight is put on in last week or so of flower so more ligth would help for sure.

ok.. Awesome. I just tried to rig up my 600w hps instead of my cfl's. My temps were hitting 31c. Have to wait until winter to use that bad boy. It would be nice to throw the LED into the mix.. For 63 quid it only has to give me an extra 6.3 grams to be worth it lol. Surely. That's possible for 130 watts? Roughly how much extra weight do they gain in th last week as a percentage? Also... If I'm 4 weeks from the chop... How much weight do u think ill gain as a percentage from now? I know that's prob hard to answer due to strains and conditions. Just after a rough idea lol.

cheers

i'd skip the LED. buy an air cooled reflector and a 6 inch inline fan for about the same price and put that 600 in there. that would blow away the CFL and LED combination by a huge margin. if i remember correctly, a 600 hps at 12 inches from the top of the plant will penetrate roughly 24 inches.

I wish I could. I have the 6 inch inline fan to go with my 600w. It I bit to dificult to run it where I am tho. Its pretty fuckin noisy lol. I could get an air cooled hood and maybe rig it up to the extraction system I already had. I was thinking of maybe buying an adjustable ballast. That way I could run the light at 400... I imagin that 400 is gonna be a fair bit cooler and still do way better than my CFL
I think even 250hps would do better. At least if I had adjustment then I could still use the 600 in the winter. Do you know if there would be a heat difference. Between a 600w ran at 400 or a 400 ran at 400? Dunno if that's a silly question but do u get whetr I'm coming from? Lol. Also how much cooler would 400 be compared to 600? Is the heat difference proportionate to th watt difference e.g woould a 300 have half the heat of a 600?

cheers again

Hey man I gotta say, when you start nearing ~400w of CFL, a 400w HPS is probably a better option.

Yes a 400w HPS will make more heat than a 23w-26w CFL, but 400w of CFL will make about if not more heat than 400w of HPS.

There are some awesome 400w HPS setups out there to keep your temps down, and its going to "blow away" the lumen output of the CFLs at the same wattage.

My first grow was all with CFL's and i've since then upgraded to a 1000w hps. I gotta say the HID blows the CFL out of the water; but they still arent for everybody.

LED is nice, but its kinda pricey to get a truly awesome fixture; as it can be though with HID. But a 400w HPS will cost you probably $190 give or take, and it will pay off pretty fast

Just my 0.02

yeah man.. I totally agree. I already have a 600w hps set up. I was thinking I could just buy an adjustable ballast for it. That way I could run it at 400w. I am starting to struggle with tempa a bit now with the cfl now the weather is warming up. Would it be to late to change the lighting? Would it make a difference to yeild?

cheers

i have a solis tek 600 that can run 400 too. it's a nice feature. i would just buy a 400 w bulb instead of running a 600 bulb at the 400 watt setting. then you have 2 bulbs: 400 and 600.

if you have 4 weeks to go, more lighting now would make a huge difference. CFL and LED lack the penetration that HID gives you.

when you said your fan was noisy, do you have a speed controller for it? i run my 6" at about half speed and its not too noisy. at full speed, it is pretty loud.

Na I don't think it has a speed controll. I got it from a mate. I'll post a pic now. You can see if its got some way of changing the speed. Ot just looks like its gashly wired to a plug. It might be able to change speed.

cheers
