Should i harvest?

4 Plants; 1x DP Power Plant, 3 x Swiss Mix
1 x 400W HPS

Hi Gurus,

I have these 4 babys going for almost 17 weeks now (full cycle) in 12/12 since week 9 or 10.

Images attached here, need advice as i have no idea if these are ready to rock yet, what do you think, couple more weeks OR NOW?

I'd say about another week or so for the indicas, and another 2-3 weeks for the sativa

Go buy yourself a small scope... only you can tell if your plants are ready... look at the trichromes... if they're mostly clear its not ready to cut... if it's mostly white you can cut it they're at the 'stoney or head buzz point'.... if they're mostly amber you've reached peak potency and you should cut down your girls because light it going to break down THC when past peak production.

also... you have a couple different strains going on there... I would be willing to bet that big tall sativa has 1-2 more weeks to go just cause usually they are 11-13 weekers... the indicas (shorter girls) are going to finish up in 8-10 weeks.. so those are probably close if not done...

the indicas are lookin quite nicely nice grow bud keep it up, but seriously go get yourself a little mircroscope... they're stupid cheap... and will help you harvest your girls properly

Without seeing your tricks I would say a couple more weeks. Get a scope. It's your best guide

Amber trichs signify THC->CBN transition...thats past peak potency...

right... as soon as they turn amber they stop THC production and light starts breaking down thc while the cbn remains right? this is why i always cut when they're milky

personally i think trich's are overrated. but im a noob so what i think dosent count. but those are your plants, what do you think? waiting never hurts, i have never waited "too long" as im a impatient soab

they are looking amazing man. judging just from the pictures i would say they are still going to pack on some weight, so i would wait a bit. if your looking to test drive it go ahead and cus a popcorn nug thats not going to yeild anyways and let it air dry for a few days and give it a whirl, many people frown upon doing that but hell its your plant and if thats what you wanna do then do it. if not then just wait.

just out of curiosity who is the author of this JPEG and what research is backing it up????

no offense and no pun intended but this could have been made by a 14 year old stoner with a decent microscope and a camera......

i say there is no set "harvest time" and that only the one that has grown the plants can determine if they are done producing.

I think that if you take a measure tape and measure a couple of buds, same time every day and make a little chart, after about 5-6 days it will tell you if they have stopped growing, if thats the case chop er down, if they are gaining a cm or 2 a day then i would wait it out untill they stop growing.

again no pun intended i know the trichome thing is the generally accepted method and im not saying it is wrong, im just saying that there is no way it can be 100% correct in every strain and situation.

Well thanks to all of you for your comments, they are well helpfull.

So i have gone and done the needy with my Swiss Mix number 3, its in the drying position now.

I will give the other 2 small ladies another week, and the taller one a couple more.

Will try post the results of the tasting, in about 4-5 days.

even if this photo was taken by a 14 year old stoner the pics are still right.many people follow the the trichomes and harvest by them this advice has been given in many forums/books

I know my buds always go thru a burst growth peroid about 2 weeks before done.. you can actually see the difference.

The capitate-stalked glandular trichome changes color as it matures. Newly formed and immature glands are clear, glands reaching optimum THC production are cloudy or milky and amber trichomes have already passed their peak. By looking at the trichomes you can also determine the best time to harvest your plants. When most trichomes have gone cloudy and a few amber ones have appeared, the plant is at its peak.








CANNABINOL (CBN)




Cannabinol is the primary degradation product of THC and increases in concentration with plant age. The concentration of this product in the bud is heavily dependent on the time of harvest. Harvesting the bud at a late stage also means that the concentration of CBN in relation to THC will be higher when compared to the peak of THC production.

CBN is only mildly psychoactive and can cause "fuzzy head", drowsiness, disorientation and sleepiness in the smoker, properties that can be considered unpleasant in nature compared to the clear high of the THC.

i never said they were wrong, just over rated in MY OPINION
