Thats a duct booster. It will work if the air doent have to go too far. It increase the air flow inside the duct if a regular duct fan isnt enough. I like the Vortex and the best price was at bettergrowhydro.com. I tried a duct fan first but it wasnt enough for my grow room. They all work about the same but prices are different and warantys are different depending on the brand you buy and where you buy it!

yup the vortex is proper ! its designed to work with a carbon filter, and powerful as hell. Duct boosters are only good for box grows, and cant be filtered

cheap fans burn out with backdraft, and are in fact a fan ..
expensive fans are actually impellers, in which backdraft isnt an issue and have the strength to pull air through a filter

Vortex is the way to go!!
I have 1 vortex simultaneously cooling 4 1000w lights.
That fan there should get the job done only if,

How long is your ducting going to be?

Well I plan on using either 2 cooltubes or something like that to cool my 2 400w hps..Ill most likely move to 600w's in the near future...so is that fan too crappy to even cool ONE light?I want to run some ducting from the OPEN end of the cooltube, with the fan connecting the 2..then just lead the ducting out of the room...maybe thgrough a carbon filter if i have cash by then..u feel me niggaz?

a duct booster is perfect as an intake, but you will need an impeller with filter to mask the smell, for your exhaust. You dont need cooling cylinders for 400 w fixtures, instead either a cool intake, or a small air conditioner.

That looks fine! Or You can make it look like this

To keep the fan out of the way.

When buying cooling fans, remember bigger is always better. You can get a thermostat type of device to only engage the exhaust fan when the room gets over ~75F, or in the case of the fan for cooling Your lights You will want that to be on a timer to turn on when Your lights come on and to shut off about ~20 mins after Your lights go off.

If Your running only 800 watts, I would say a good inline fan to cool Your lights would only need to be ~200cfms. And Your exhaust fan would only need to be about ~300 cfms. But bigger is better especailly if You live down south and for the summer time.

HTGsupply is a good place to buy supplies too. Tony is a cool dude and he does good buisness.

OK...however ima only get one good fan with ni inatke fan..itll be passive intake..also,do I leave the edn of the far hood open..or close it somehow so only the hot air in the hoods gets cooled?and lest say i dot run it like this 2 keep the fan out of the way..O--------O-------##...can i still attch a carbo filter at the end..and will it be enough to keep both hoods cool..since it it is kinda far from the hoods themselkves??

They don't suck, for the money they're cool. But they're not the same thing as inline fans and not suitable for two 400's or more. One 400 with a cooltube and no filter it would have been ol.
If you think you need 400cfm, get an 800 and run it half speed so it's quieter, same thing with size 6" fans are quieter than 4 and so forth.
I know you didn't mention stealth as a concern but those vortex fans are too loud for my tastes. You can not hide a grow with one of those vortex fans making a bunch of noise.
Instead think about Solar and Palau fans.

Ok I think I know what You want to do.

I would set it up like this

HHHHH = Carbon filter.

HHHHH---------O--------------O-------------##

As OregonMeds said, You can always reduce the output with a "dimmer switch"/ rheostat type of device.

So depending on where You live and how warm the room gets, I would go with a ~500 CFM fan for the summer time. Plus once You add the carbon filter You knock down some CFMs. So a 500 CFM fan might only run at 420 CFM :D after the filter is attached.

The thing about running it this way, with only one fan, is that the fan has to run all the time while lights are on, and You won't be able to control the temps as accuratly as having an independent exhaust fan controlled by a thermostat device.
