When to flip to flower is largely based on the headroom you have for your plants.

Your plants will stretch 2-3 times their size in the first 21-24 days you go to 12/12... so if your plants are 1' now, they could reach 3' before real flowering begins.

...and yes, depending on strain and environment, after a 5 week veg, a few oz is very do-able.

Looks more just like stress. I wonder who thinks chopping back all the leaves like is a good thing? Please do explain!

Trimming fan leaves like that reduces how much the plants transpire (lose water through the leaves to stay cool). So if you have high temps and can't water very often, I guess?

It's a bit like smashing all your solar panels, though.

you posted it before i could about the transpiring thing
yea you dont want to fuck up your solar panels

you want them to transpire so that more nutes are moving thru the plant... more waterings per-cycle is better then less waterings because ultimately the plant is getting more nutes

Unfortunately, by chopping off parts of the fan leaves, you are not getting more light to the plants, but less since there is less area on the plant for them to gather light.

Its like trying to get more light into your house by removing part of your window.

Lol "take it easy" get-that-corn-outta-my-face_o_GIFSoup.com_.gif

That was pretty random. Anyways, I think you should veg for a little longer to increase yields, especially if you're expecting a few ounces per plant.

I only remove leaves if they are dead, I need to clear access to soil, or I am taking cuttings for clones. Otherwise I just let them all grow. I did also remove bud sites way down by the bottom, but not sure if I will continue that. I like them green and fluffy and hell. Light can pass through the leaves, if you are worried about it getting through, then tuck them out of the way.

Wouldnt you rather leavem also?
Undecided, I do like using the bottom popcorn buds to make concentrates/budder. I just thought I would try removing for this one. Honestly, I don't know that it will help much to remove, just hoping it will make harvesting a little easier.
