Shot glass germination question

All my seeds have sunk to the bottom but show no tap roots. Are these seeds good to put into soil yet? I've read a couple posts saying just plant them but I've also read some stuff about seeing a tap root first.

They wont show a tap root in the water, only if you put them in a paper towel.

How long have they been soaking?
I only soak mine for 24 hours
 
Dont go past 24 hours. Get those babies into a paper towel. Stat! You should read the entire germination guide before you start. That way youll have an idea of what to expect and what your next step will be.
 
I don't soak at all, I find that a moist paper towel works just fine with close to 100% success rate. Back when I started out and at this time of year I ran heat in my house, put the moist paper towl & seeds in a ziplock, wrapped a bath towel around it, and then tossed it halfway over a floor heat duct. The moisture & heat is ideal for germination.

Now days I take things much more seriously, so I just paid the simple $30 for a germination mat, which simply plugs right into a socket and gives you a pouch to put your paper towel & seeds into and maintains the ideal temp for germination. I found mine in the home depot garden section.

Def take those out of the shot glass tho, if you do soak, 24 hours or less is plenty
 
Before you do any planting tho...

1) What kind of soil are you using? (Brand? Premix or your own mixture? Fertility?)

2) Have you added any blood meal, bone meal, earthworm castings, ... to the soil?

3) What nutrient line do you plan to use throughout the grow?

Most soils have more than enough nutrients for your lil babies to last 2-3 weeks, some a month, so be careful not to get ahead of yourself and start feeding too early. Gradual progression in feeding as you approach maturity is very important! Look into purchasing a PPM/PH/EC testing unit, if you do not already have one. This will allow you to control your feeding solutions to the T and know exactly what levels you are preparing, so that you can make the necessary adjustments.

Thanks for the good info guys. The seeds are now in soil and had a total soak time of about 22 hours. I'll update this when/if they pop.

The soil is a brand called Coast of Maine bar harbor blend. It's a perlite, compost, peat, seaweed, aged dark bark mix. It's super fluffy and light on nutes so I plan to give them grow nutes pretty early into their life. As far as those nutes, I'll be using General Organics Grow and Bloom nutrients w/ superthrive.
 
Resurrecting this post because all seeds have popped out and shown their initial flowers.

I will NEVER attempt to germinate seeds using the paper towel method again. I've wasted many high quality seeds over the past month using this method and it just isn't worth it. I suppose that once you get it down it a perfectly fine way to germinate but there's just too much that can go wrong (water dries up, too much water, not enough heat, etc...) The pre-soak method is just so damn easy.... drop in water, let them sink, put them in soil and BANG you have sprouts.
