Has anyone experimented with short veg periods like only couple weeks? Looking to start making bho and trying to find a quick turnaround time what could one exspect yeild wise with little to no veg time?

If you want a short veg. period you would just need more plants to fill your light's footprint. It also depends what intensity light you're vegging under. I flower 4 plants per 600 watt light after a 6-8 week vegging period but I also veg. under low intensity fluorescent shop lights.

With a full 2 week veg. period under hid's (if we're talking healthy well rooted clones), I would think 9 should cut it. A good rule of thumb, regardless of how many plants you use, is to flip once 2/3 of the light-print is filled.

Clone or seed? You can throw clones right into flower or do 12/12 from seed. Both will hurt overall yield. Best bet is to clone till you see roots, then veg for 5-7 days. Or if growing from seed, wait till alternating nodes.. Patience and an extra week will make a big difference.

yeah but a lot of people don't realize its not about yield so much as space
depending on the person.
me personally if I had a 3 0z harvest im just as happy as if it was 4 oz
all I need is it to last me till my next havest im not tryin to build excess pot
just more risk

I'm sorta the same way. I grow enough that I always end up giving it away so it doesn't just sit in a jar in my closet forever. I do like keeping track of yield though, just as one of the ways to compare it with other strains.

Oh and there's nothing wrong with a two week veg, just plant more seeds so that the light canopy is filled in.

I have been looking into the mini plants cus I would like to grow lots of small strains
Instead of 2-3 big ones. I think it would be funner to always have new stuff around but I
hear the plant will only start flowering when its mature.

ive only done 2 crops and they were full 1month vegs. anyone know the lagtime between light change and when buds show up if u flower at 2 weeks?

I don't know but you would think they would still show signs of flower within 2 weeks

Generally, it is a trade-off when you sacrifice yield for speed. Don't forget that quality is also a factor and that quality is less when you start cheating the calendar.

There are a number of posts dealing with skipping vegging altogether and going straight from seedling to flowering. To maximize yield we suggest vegging until you see pre-flowers. That is when you turn to 12/12. You should be aware that time skipped during veg mode will leave you scrawnier and shorter plants with less yield. You have to decide what you want - fast or good.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Generally I veg for 4 weeks but I try to keep my plants short because of light and space going to cut my grow down to 2 insted of 4 to produce bigger plants...don't think I'm going to shorten veg time maybe lengthen it

If you run from clones you can do little to no veg and get great yields per sq/ft. For the last 10 years I ran a SOG style grow with 45ish plants in a 4x4 flood and drain tray. They were in 6 inch pots of grow rocks or hydroton. They started as clones. Once rooted they got put into the pots and vegged for 1-2 weeks to build roots. They went into flower about 7-8 inches tall and ended about 25 inches. I usually got yields between 20-30g per plant depending on strain.

Don’t chop plants early to try to harvest sooner it’s not worth it.
