Short Auto strains for an idiot

Ok guys, please bare with me. I have been searching this forum high and low and can't get a decent answer for this question. I see a lot of people posting about their own breedings, but it's not what I'm looking for. My question/dilemma is:
What auto strain would be good for an idiot (me) to grow in my apartment closet? It's a very small closet mind you, and from the bottom shelf to the floor is a little over 3 foot. And I plan on mounting my CFL's to the underside of that bottom shelf. I need to find a good stable strain with decent yield/size ratio and with low smell issues (I'm in an apartment complex). Also, something with a good buzz. Doesn't have to cause couchlock (though it's always welcome), but something that lasts for a bit. I already have gathered the basic auto growing info I need, such as grow pot size, lighting schedules, etc. I just need someone to point me in the right direction as to the right strain(s) that will fit this criteria. As I said, I've been reading the crap out of this forum and the auto threads, and am so damn confused and have a headache from so much bickering and nonsense. I just want a friendly farmer to help an idiot find what he needs. Thanks in advance everyone, and happy growing!

Also, I should mention I'm on a super strict budget. I'm only gonna be able to get the beans and nutes. I already have some 300W CFL's for the lights. Being that it's a small closet, what method should I use to vent it, and would ONA be good enough to remove the odor?

I recommend Afgan Ryder Kush. Mine grew to about 2 feet in 71 days from germination under24/7 light and produced some kick ass couch lock smoke. Happy Growing and may all of your harvests be bountiful.

Awesome. Is it really stinky through flowering though? That's my biggest issue. And I thought it's not good to leave the light on autos 24/7? I heard 18/6 is optimal?

If i could i would run 24/7 until she starts to flower then maybe drop back to 20/4 or 18/6, autos dont need a dark cycle as much as photos, they have such a short life span you want as much photosynthesise to occur, that being said 18/6 might suit your needs better.. i was gonna recommend an EasyRyder, short, fast, easy plant with AK47 genitcs

My Think Different (Dutchpassion) has been mild smelling, decent quality smoke. I don't think there are any autos that are top flight. But better than I expected. Good yield. Might suit your situation well. It also had some mutants in the seeds though. Haven't smoked them as they are all longer flowering it seems and have some old school mega foxtail traits of some sativas. They look like a nightmare to trim. Some of them are filling out a bit but still a lot of leaf and stem there. I'd say they are undesirable but I have not smoked them so I can't say with any certainty. From a purely bag appeal and practical standpoint you don't want plants like this. I judge more on smoke though. And the stuff I've chopped so far has been nice quality IMO. Not top shelf, but better than a lot.

Afghan Kush Ryder was probably the stinkiest of the autos I grew outside this year. I didn't do it justice though so I will not comment on it. Frosty looking, but I screwed it up of my own volition. Would recommend it as worth a shot if you're interested in this kind of growing, but definitely a bit more smelly. Only had 1 seed though so who knows how well that seed represented the offspring.

La Diva I grew 2 of these and they worked out pretty well. A bit more smelly than the Think Different. Nice looking, decent resin production, maybe not as nice a high. The TD is definitely more sativa leaning. This one is more indica/ruderalis. But the two seeds I grew produced plants similar in nature and both were decent quality I'd say.

I would consider a Northern Lights autoflower if I were you, they are likely to be small and squat plants and are a tried and tested strain that doesnt smell too badly in flower.

Thanks all of you for your help. I am gonna check some of my fave seed banks for a pick n' mix of some of these strains. Here in the next month or so, I should have a grow journal started. I shoulda started one for my G13 outdoor grow this year, but alas, I never did. I def will though with the auto grow. Happy growing and much stoner fam love!

One more question, being that I'm choosing to go with the smaller auto strains, should I go with smaller grow containers? I heard 3 gallon is best for standard autos, but will 2 gallon, or even 1 gallon suffice for these smaller strains?

Can I vote for depending on state law don't perform felony's in an apartment? Just saying little tiny auto grow isn't worth a felony to me, but that's me. I know stealth I have done stealth but things happen so be prepared for the worst when ya start this hobby.

And I second northern lights good strain not to stanky but still potent and I have heard good review's of the auto save for stability hiccups.

Thanks for the warning Hippy, but my apartment manager don't ever stop by. But she is a pothead. We've smoked a couple times in her office already. So, I'm not too worried. I've been here awhile now and if she did decide to stop by, I have a 48 hour period to move everything. And I opted to go for a stealth cab grow with the autos. That way I can run some 2 pin PC fans and a DIY charcoal filter. It may be risky, but I love the adrenaline rush. Plus everyone in my town is an Oxy-head, and the only person I can get weed from is my cousin. I'm already growing monsters outside, but I got a family to feed. This tiny podunk town survives off the hustle. Literally. 83% of my town is on SSI or some other form of government assistance. I can go to the next town over and make a killing off my crops. I gotta fund my escape somehow. But NL it is. Thanks for all the advice guys.
