im wondering if this is all cooley? Or is he just a puppet?
Nah. This was an investigation that started a while ago. Cooley hasn't won yet. This is the San Jose police narcotics division. The major and city counsel claim to have no control over the matter but that is total bullshit.

I always thought the dispensaries being in line with "street prices" were because if they didn't their patients would turn around and sell it themselves especially if they got it at cost. That's just human nature 101.

That said any non-profit with 5 million in income with a short list of salaries and expenses is going to have to explain where the money went.

SJ is like that, its always been more conservative. i spent the day with richard lee and he expressed concern about oaklands future, including harborside. shit may get nasty. he said it like this, harborside pulled out of SJ because it had been bad there for a while now. some would call it a smart move, some would call it cowardly. i say either way, fuck working with dispensaries until this is settled, the black market is looking safer than MMj.

*WARNING*

They are now going after the vendors of the clubs they bust. Not just bud vendors but edibles too.

I'd strongly advise everyone not to fuck with SJ for a while. If you have to deal with clubs I wouldn't do consignment and I'd only talk on burners or anon email.

Where did you hear that? Where else would they get their marijuana from? The SJPD bums needa go find real criminals not wasting time and money on MMJ

Source of information is an edibles vendor in San Jose. I can't elaborate on that too much. He only works with clubs. After a few of the clubs he was working with got shut down the cops showed up at his house. He didn't answer the door, no warrant so they left. But he's pretty freaked out right now.

Just wanted to give people a heads up. Sorry I can't give better info, I have to respect his privacy.

Don't be sorry, it is happening and that is all that really matters. Privacy above the skeptics. Better have your garden in order dispensary vendors. Thanks for the heads up.

i feel for the people that use the co-ops. think of all the info the co-ops keep on their computer systems, thats what i worry about. For every 1 legal co-op there are 3 that aren't. im sorry but Cash only places i find it hard to believe they are on the up and up.

Most dispensaries are pocketing large amounts of cash. The average customer at a San Jose cannabis club spends $70 per visit (based on marketing statistics made in SJ). Even the smallest mom & pop club can get 4 patients an hour. With 8 hour days that's 32 patients a day x $70 = $2240 a day x 6 days a week x 4 weeks a month x 12 months a year = $645,120 a year. And that's a tiny hole in the wall club. Some clubs up there see hundreds of patients per day. And they are all "non-profits". They are ALL doing either really creative accounting or outright pocketing cash, no exceptions.

WOW... i never even thought of doing the math. Forget the DEA busting the doors down, just send in the IRS. im all for pot being used for medical reasons. but figures like you put up that are cash and tax free is what im not for. i hate to say it but if i have to pay my taxes while i work my ass off to pay my own bills, places like these need to get in line so medical marijuana can stay legal for medical users.

i wonder if you can write off buying Pot at the legal co-ops you can for other type of medications lol

Every store front dispensary in California is like that. I doubt there are more than 10 exceptions to that in the entire state.

I won't mention the club's name but I know a certain bay area dispensary that averages over 200 patients per day, has 6 paid employees and over 50 unpaid volunteers working at it. That is outright scandalous.

To be fair, these places are run by stoners, that is not efficiently, and operating expenses are HUGE. Plus the donations to local police to stay open are never ending. The expenses add up.

ps. I quit one of the better dispensaries in CA because of what you are suggesting, and my similar feelings. Just trying to be fair.

You are correct about the operating expenses. Only 1/2 or maybe less of that is profit in many clubs. It's $10k a month just to stay open for a small dispensary. Although the more successful the dispensary, the less of that overhead effects you.

Hard to blame the big ones for being successful, although with that much money coming in they could drop their prices a bit and still be very profitable. It's a double edged sword in a way. If you drop your prices people go somewhere else because they assume you have lower quality. A lot of people actually want to pay $60 an 1/8. It's fucked up. Many people go in and only look at the most expensive shit.

I guess it jsut falls on city or county governments to start looking into these places. more money a city / county gets from local tax revenue the less they need to get from the state. which in trun allows the state to spend money in better places like hotel rooms, hookers and booze ( not in that order) hahahahaha
