Sex my plants

I'm very confused - my 2 Northern Lights look both male and female, so perhaps they're hermie? But what makes me think they might be female is that the pistils are growing out of the ball sack looking things, rather than growing seperately. so it seems as though the ball sack looking things are just the things the pistils grow out of in the female plant of this strain, or is this just wishful thinking? please let me knoe what i should do, destroy them, just remove the ball sacks, or leave them as they are?

The first is a girl and the second is a boy. If you want more re-veg the girl and take clones. I tried the ball sac removal method and I do not recommend it its a headache they grow back faster and more plentiful every time and you just end up with seedy buds.

I would ditch the second one straight away. As for the first one, keep a close eye on it, as it doesn't look quite right to me.

yeah thanks, definitely dont look right do they. i think there must have been a light leak that did something weird to them. I'm going to destroy the second one and keep the first one for now and see what happens. if they are pollen sacks, how long before they start trying to pollenate (i have 2 females of ssh in there too that i dont want to get seeds)?

oh and i dont want to clone the first one unless its a definite female do i? i dont think i should be cloning hermies?

OK so I destroyed the second one now. I have taken a few more photos of the female - it has 2 balls, 1 of the balls has 3 pistils coming from it - so the ball could be the calyx? but shouldnt there only be 2 pistils not 3? another ball at the highest node has another pistil growing from it, but only 1 pistil, again i though it should be 2 pistils.

The plant you let live looks straight up female, just keep a close eye on it but I don't think you have too much to worry about. Congrats!

i'm still not sure that this is female, there are now lots of ball things growing, seem to be in groups of 4. a couple have tiny wispy pistils but not what i'm expecting at all. it's 4 weeks old now, flowering from seed. I'm so confused i have taken it out of the growroom but just sat it in my living room!?!?! As if I can't bring myself to kill it :D I'll do it tomorrow i reckon, even if its a female its too late, i just didnt like the look of it.

this plant is hte same one as the pics i posted in my last post, sorry couldnt get focus right

the 3rd pic is a hermi for sure..
let me explain.
in pic 1 and 2..the "balls" are way to big to produce hairs. So its a male.
If it was a female..a smaller oval shaped circle will appear with white hairs popping out of it in like a pear shape.
if you have 3 hairs, even better, actually the more you have the better.
here is a update of mine...flowering since 14 January

Yeah looks like a hermie to me.
Best bet if its all you've got is to just keep pulling off any balls.
You could also try adding some evening primrose oil to your water as it contains naturally occurring plant oestrogen which will also help to inhibit but not stop the male growth:leaf:

yea natmoon, but pulling the balls off dont mean shit..
they will just multiply.
also, since his balls have some weird hairs popping out of em, he could pull off a female pre-flower..
just a thought

Yeah thanks guys, you put my mind at rest. It's not too disastrous as I have 2 feminized super silver haze that are flowering nicely. It makes sense about the balls being too big to produce hairs, they look nothing like the female plants I have, even with the few white hairs. It's gone in the bin now anyway, thanks for the replies.
