Week 9 - FIN
End of the line, but not with out more issues. I knew it was going to happen, I just ran the risk. Too much moisture, too much vegetation, not enough airflow, not the right kind of airflow, and I got mold. Not a lot, but enough over most of the colas on Head Trip and on one cola on Jillybean to immediately bring them down. I gutted and treated what I could salvage from the two, but disappointing still. Fortunately the beast that is know as the Grease Monkey still prevails and unfazed. She will be finally coming down tomorrow after a few flushes of Ful-Power and plain tap water and this concludes this experimental run! I'll be starting a new experimental run in a week or two once I get the tent and surrounding area bleached down or replaced due to mold and pests.

Ranged from 45 to 79. Usually around 55 to 60. I got a small dehumidifier to try to combat it, but the room the tent is in is too enclosed and doesn't allow proper ventilation. I knew it was most likely going to happen, it was just a race against the clock.

Man, I've had similar issues with PM, I feel your pain. I've been running a dehumidifier in the room when the lights are out, and found I have to keep the door (to the grow room) open when the lights are on. I can't run the dehumidifier when the lights are on, it just gets way too hot, and even though the humidity in the house is generally (this time of year) around 60-65%, the humidity in the room runs *lower* with the door open. My tent runs at about 75º and 50-60% RH with the lights on, and 80º at around 45% RH with the lights off (and obviously heat making dehumidifier on). My plants live in a strange and unnatural world, but so far I've been able to keep the PM down with this system. I'm also running lots of fans (5 + the exhaust), and one fan and the exhaust run 24/7. Next week is June, and like a giant switch was flipped the weather is changing on cue and things should dry out for me considerably. Moving forward I will only do two indoor runs per year, one flowering June/July, and one flowering Jan/Feb, because those are the only times of the year I can control humidity consistently. Sorry... probably more info than you wanted but this is my current issue so its right on the front burner for me.

Good to know about the Grease Monkey, I haven't seen it around locally but I'm always keeping a running list of fungi-resistant strains.

I'm starting to think we live in the same house much less the same area. The weather here has been pretty humid as of late so that's been a constant battle (thundering as I type) and yeah soon as the heat kicks in everything will dry back out. I also have to keep the door open to my area, but just have the one fan due to room size and power. Hopefully the next run is dryer.

When I lost an entire crop to PM, partly is was because of my laziness -- I was opening the tent (and at that time also the converted closet's doors), and just looking in from the top down. When I discovered the PM, it was all on lower leaves that were in the lower canopy, not in direct light. So now I have two clip on fans blowing the top air in the upper canopy in a circular pattern, and three of those smaller (10 inch?) turbo fans down low blowing up through the bottom of the canopy. And of course a 6" exhaust fan running on its high speed 24/7 (I think its around 220cfm). That's all in a 2x4 tent. I do not want to lose another crop.

I thought about lower fans to push pull air around the tent like a computer chassis. Nice to know it works, I'll definitely have to try it next round.

OK.... for the record. So I lost one crop, then the next one was 100% fine. Then with the current one, just around the time I switched to flower -- before any flowers started -- I saw a few spots on one plant. So I hit the whole thing with GreenCure. Soaked it top to bottom. That with the additional fans, the exhaust fan bumped up to high, the dehumidifier running during lights out, and trimming the crap out of the plants... all of that seems to have done the trick. Don't mean to drown your thread in anti-mold techniques, but that's the whole story, didn't want to leave the GreenCure or the trimming out. They are all pieces of the puzzle.

And as a side note, the plant that got PM this run was one I lost in the bad run -- Bruce Banner #3. In that previous run I lost three plants I've tried to run again: BB#3, GG#4, and J1 (my patient likes high THC Sativa dominant hybrids). The GG#4 I ran last run no problem. I got another J1, and it got PM within a week and I threw it out. The BB#3 made it 6 weeks before showing any signs, and I was too committed to the grow to throw it out so I threw everything I could at it. Point is, in my experience, J1 and BB#3 are strains on my "mold-susceptible" list, probably won't ever try them again.

No worries, our environments are so similar that all techniques, tips or methods are helpful.

Yeah I trimmed the hell out of the Grease Monkey, she got a lot of airflow, the other two didn't get as much trimming due to them playing catch up. I should have trimmed them back more later on but I thought I could maybe beat it. Didn't work out so well.

Experiment Garden Round 3 Preview

Round 3 officially kicks off tonight. I just put the seeds in their rooters and so begins the long trek of vegging and training and vegging some more. Round 3 are GPS and Tree of Life genetics and look forward to some winners.

And those few weeks turned into a few months. But, here we are, after a few vacations, a series of male culling later and Round 3 flower mode is on.

New changes this round are:
3 Gallon pots instead of 5 gallon (hoping to get close to the same quantity with out busting out of the tent again)
Video updates! I figured I would put my profession to use as well as use a new 4k gimbaled action cam, because I might as well over produce the shit out of it.
Everything else is still the same; coco, jacks 3-2-1, and my diy 7-cob triple spectrum bar.

Here we go, left to right : Ghost Town, Cherry Wine, Copperhead with a second Copperhead to the far right in a 3/4 gallon fabric pot just cause.

Where are these strains from? I've never heard of them.

Sure thing. My dinosaur light is comprised of 7- 3070's cause I'm too cheap to upgrade to 3590's. Driven by 400W's from 2 hlg-185h-c1400a's (200w each). The spectrums are 3000k, 3500k, and 4000k, placed like so:
