Setting up SOG

Hi guys,

I bought 120x120 tent and wanna start growing SOG. Bought 15x 11l pots so each pot have 30x30. What im not sure is when I should switch them to flower in this size of pot so they dont make tent to full. I was reading if I wanna do SOG I should switch 2-3 weeks after germination, but size of plant in second and in third week is quite different. Im thinking now about switching them sooner because I always had problem with high humidity but im afraid that my yield will be to low. Any advice?

It’s best practise to work from clones, different phenos will display different growth rates and some will be less desirable for a sog set up. There’s a thread in the hydroponics section called harvest every 2 weeks by a guy called al b Fuct. This is the most comprehensive guide on sea of green I’ve seen on the internet. Read that, you won’t regret it.

sorry this doesn’t answer ur question, but I feel you’ll benefit more from reading this thread than you would from me telling you the best way to execute an allready flawed plan.

my advice wouldbe to find yourself a pheno that doesn’t have too much lateral branching, tight internodal spacing and is mold resistant. Along with the traits you want to smoke.
Then use this as a mother and take maybe 150 clones, then pick the 64 that look most identical in size and thickness to one another to flower, then you probably won’t need much veg time at all if any.

its Also preferred to lollipop the clones at week 1 and 3.

really I’m just repeating advice in the al b Fuct thread. Have a spy, it’s a great read

Cant find that article. Im aware that sog should be done with clones but in my case time is the main reason why im choosing SOG so preparing mother and cuts is at this moment too much time consuming.

Here you go matey.

yeah that makes sense, in that case then I would say I’d let them go until they’re about 6 to 8 inches tall, the longer the better tbh when you’re going from seed. the main thing to focus on will be stopping lateral branching by lollipoping this should help you achieve the single cola per plant which in turn will help you with the humidity in the canopy.

yield is something thats Gonna take a while to figure out and will depend on the strain ur using, are you going to take clones from the side branches u cut off? If you were to do this then you could start some mothers and discard them as you see which seedlings are performing how u want, then at the end of this run you’ll probably have a mother big enough to fill the 1.2x1.2 with only her offspring.

yields can get upwards of 20oz per square meter, there are people who claim to have gotten a kilo from your space, but with this all depends on your ability along with genetics and what kind of set up you have

EDIT: for a true sea of green people would usually use more plants than the 15 you plan on using, and they would end up looking like spears, most I’ve seen have around 3/4 per square foot. Which would be like 48-64 plants in ur space, sorry I didn’t pick up on this earlier.
