Setting up for first extract attempt

I recently started growing and have trim/popcorn buds from two harvests I want to turn into a concentrate. I dont have the items needed for BHO, so I was looking at icewax or primarily ISO Extract for now.

I only have 91% but going to look for 99% locally. I have a few questions about ISO.

1. For filters I have coffee filters and a metal reusable filter, is that enough?

2. I see tutorials that say shake vigorously and some say to just let it soam for 30sec?

3. Is it ok to do indoors?


What simple extractions do you guys do? Im worried Ill waste some product which is ok, just curious how you guys do it. Thanks all.

Indoors, 91% ISO, very cold wash at 2-3 minutes and filter with unbleached coffee filters. Works bomb but YMMV.

Your first attempt why not try something easy and fool proof and look into rosin tech.

Rosin tech is the easiest and most fool proof.

If you can get 190 proof ethanol (Everclear), use it instead of 99% ISO.

If you can't get it locally, you can order it shipped to you from:

If you must use ISO, use http://skunkpharmresearch.com/qwiso/ and insure adequate purge.

QWET and QWISO are not as flammable as butane, but consider what dropping a glass container of it and having it catch fire, would do to your kitchen. I can walk 150ft and buy everclear, which is my only pro as I have NO hydro\grow stores locally at all.

I can afford bubble bags or whatever Im jjust very naive\new to concentrates. What do you suggest? I tried a little nug for rosin last night but didnt do enough I bet so said forget it for now.

Ok thanks I think im all good. Just wanted a couple suggestions. Im going to get some bubble bags I think. Believe it was 45,120,160 micron.

Will play around. I saw a video on dudd mKing rosin and I didnt realize how much pressure you put into it. He put all his weight into it on his kitchen counter.

you will want the 73 micron as well, that is supposed to be the magic number to get the full melt. If you are going the bubble bag route, I would suggest stopping in to Matt Rise's thread, the sticky at the top.
