Log cabins lack the microbes. If you put a log into some active soil, it will disappear pretty quick. There's actual science behind this. It's not broscience.

Wood chips requires work and methods that are labor-some. We, as a society want returns on our investments almost immediately lol. Wood chips don't do that. Breaking down?? Its already broken down. It was a tree. Now it comes into contact with soil. And microbial populations will help it more. However, from the car to the grow room.. Wood chips are already decomposing therefore, emitting co2. Dumpster fire. You are the trash talker. HUGE ego

At the end of the day, if it's sterile and free, any benefit should be welcome. I mean, articles about mulch (tree bark, cannabis itself) emphasize other probiotic benefits than supplementing CO2. So, what's the big deal? E.g., https://www.skunkmagazine.com/mulching-your-cannabis-plants/.

Burning pellets/chips would accelerate decomp, but I'm not doing that in the house.
