okay well after reading what you wrote, it seems like you DONT want to trip. so definitely dont get sativa. that is complete mind high. indica will put you on your ass though. find a 50 50 hybrid, regular not auto, and you should be good.

Big difference between now and then IMO is, most weed was brown sativa, so a major head stone. Now that we have a lot more indica in most strains, the couchlock is something we didn't used to deal with much back in the old days. But hit for hit, today's weed, no matter the strain, packs a bigger punch than most of the weed from decades ago.

Old school smokers should probably hit a strain with more cbd, nowadays you'll find strains super high in THC virtually lacking any CBD, that is what attributes to those trippy highs, cbd counteracts thc's psychoactive effects making the high more clear and has a plethora of other benefits medically as well.

I got back into lighting up after several decades off. The first few times I sampled my harvests, I feared for my life if I puffed up a little too much. Now those same strains give me a much different high/stone. I too said "I don't remember this shit!" but I don't think it was like the LSD I sampled back in the late 80s. Now that I'm used to it, it hits me with a much more mild effect, but still good, and probably closer to what you might remember.

Acid must have been shit in the 70's! I will agree that many of the sativa dominant strains are pretty trippy. The Sugar Punch I'm currently enjoying gives me perceptual jolts. But it's nothing like the periods of irreconcilable reality you get on LSD.

I recall staring at a bowl of fried rice for 15 minutes when on LSD and enjoying it. I haven't been able to repeat this with MJ.

I haven't smoked for 25 years (raising children and work). Now that i'm retired and the kids are gone, I've grown 3 or 4 small Auto hybrids.
Nothing smells like the stuff of the early 80's and the highs I use to enjoy, are all now massive head trips. I smoke a tiny pinch and its like a hit of LSD of the late 70's.
The strains I've grown seem to all smell like the blueberry influence and the smoke doesn't even smell like pot. Is it my age difference, is it the autos, is it the strength of the weed?
I hear of couch lock vs. sativa type of highs and so far all I can come up with is TRIP weed (really not enjoyable). I pulled a Auto with a giant cola three weeks late and the others a little early and the highs are still all the same.
The best part of smoking in the 80's, was being able to do stuff while you have a nice buzz. Now all I can do is lay on the couch and hope we don't get some kind of emergency phone call because there's no way we could mentally function. I don't know any street sellers, so I don't have anyway to compare different types, So what do think, Do I just have the wrong types of smoke?...La diva, Critical mass, big Budda Automatic:?:

This is hilarious, I tell people all the time the weed I and others smoked in the 70's was BULLSHIT compared to today's weed but for some reason people want to try and sell that 70's weed was better..

We were smoking shit so bad we had no real tolerance levels at all so when something even DECENT came around it seemed like the greatest stuff ever.

And YES, LSD was SHIT in the 70s as well. No where near as powerful as LSD from even the 80's. Of course in the 70's they werent cutting it with strichnine and shit like that so it was a much weaker, but more mellow type of trip (similar to a newb smoking some really powerful MJ today).

Back then the Thc percentage was about 5% when you grow now its like 25% really depends on the strain, but I'm sure you can find some oldschool strain out there, and maybe look at the reviews so you can get an overview of what kind of high you'll get.

The LaDiva was a nice, easy allday smoke for me. Ill slap on a metal roof in no time with some LaDiva in my system.

LWD - any suggestions on strains?
Blue Blood by Medicann Seeds they just arrived at the Attitude. 10% CBD

Resin Seeds Cannatonic 1:1 CBD/THC ratio

Gage Green Seeds Harlequin Jo

Reggae Seeds Juanita La Lagrimosa

Everything from CBD crew, I believe all of the theirs is cbd enriched and have 1:1 CBD/THC ratio

makes for a less racey/trippy smoke, for old guys who wanna get back and haven't smoked in 25 years :)
