It's when stuff like this happens that I think 'wow, I could have never been born'. Mama had me at 19, moved in with my dad because someone put a brick through her window. Married 17 years and she works in a film studio and I'm at university.
Someone could have easily talked her into not having me without knowing how things would turn out. 19 is not as young as 16 but people still thought it was shocking.
Your brother is a twat, no offense. You told him to use a condom and he basically said 'fuck that', right? He should be saddled with full responsibility. His girlfriend is going to have a painful, nausea-ridden, back pain-plagued, horrific, hormonal nine months and the agony of labor so he better treat her like a queen and support that child, then raise it better than himself. The arrogance- he has a 'it'll never happen to me' type attitude? I guess he should get in their early, establishing himself in the working world. For now: to feed his child, for later: he could end up a big earner if he works hard.
Mama unlocked her potential in different kinds of employment when she dropped out of school. It's not always a good situation, but things will turn out well if you're the kind of person who will try and make the best of it. Perhaps your brother will find a strong dependable part of himself deep inside.
