Seedsman Northern Lights Auto - Hermie Seeds

How was the weed though?? Just curious because I personally had an amazing experience with a Seedsman auto (Kush/Hindu Kush)
I'm only into the first week of curing so it's hard to say just yet. Smells like Tropicana Orange Juice, though, so that's nice. Was super easy to grow and produced over 2 ounces in a 3gal pot (despite my over feeding) so I'd recommend it just based on the grow. Hell I'd give you these seeds if we were neighbors.

I've grown some Seedsman Purple Kush CBD 1:1 recently and thoroughly enjoyed it, so yeah I'm a seedsman fan.

External conditions were pretty normal (light, temp, humidity, water) but I did overfeed with calcium and magnesium…because this was an auto I managed to get to harvest before any big issues had a chance to develop. Would nutrient toxicity make a plant produce seeds?
My experience is any stress can cause seeding if only a few on the lower buds. All of mine been females I've 2 in the same pot right now from last run. 20230420_115624.jpg

Ok guys, that was fun, now back to the topic of herming plants :) I expect some better ideas as I've exhausted all the easy methods of herming mine :D

I been running autos for 2 years now. Winter of 20 I lost power 3 times in 10 days during mid bloom and as I expected I got some light seeding. My experience isn't very scientific but if your feeling adventurous try throwing them in cooler darkness a few days over 2 weeks. It's just a thought I had I normally stay out of the really technical stuff I'm no expert. Maybe some more opinions on that?

I think pretty much everything you said below is 100% accurate and was the mic drop post for the thread.
Temperature and humidity, nutritional and light schedule. I usually know when they have been stressed and to look for the seeds.

@curious2garden if I knew what I did to get 17+ mature seeds out of this plant I'd tell you. If it's a genetic predisposition, well that might explain why these were 'give-away' free seeds from Seedsman. Pretty stoked to have an abundance of these seeds now, regardless.

Fascinating too as they are autos. I wonder if they will all be autos or you get a photo in the group. Also you'll get the answer if in future grows they each successively herm as you get more experience and tighten your grow's stressors. Lots of plants were found from bag seed and this is where it comes from.

Good luck and don't be too sensitive we do play a tad rough here but you got the answers from the guys before me. They are all excellent growers.

From what I understand, self seeding autos will most likely produce auto seeds, but I suppose there’s always room for genetic mutations depending on how far back the line goes…

Stressors from nute issues / environmental / overwatering / strain stability / defoliation / etc.

But , modern autos are usually bred better than before - used to be with early autoflowers … if you did something minor it would stunt / stall and generally stay pretty underwhelming. Back then , it was lowryder strains - Dwarfy - 60 day wonder.

Most autoflowers ( seeds ) you buy can be S1 from some breeder or actually worked for more stability. Some auto breeders are actually making some good stable and consistent autoflowers - others not so much.

Best advice :

Autos = Unpredictability

wheres your in air comming from? theres allways the possability someones growing outside and has grown males or its a hemp grow, then the pollen has blown around and entered your grow area. its not impossable.

No way. I was just thinking about how when I gave a plant I was going to chop some
Darkness (48hrs) then decided against it. Few days later it was popping nanners.

I’m suspecting u can make them Hermie by messing with the dark schedule. Would be awesome if true!

It’s all indoors closed circuit. Would be surprised if male pollen managed to get in, let alone if my stiff neighbors were growing/breeding. Although I did open the windows a few times to cool it down on hot days, so anything’s possible I suppose. But these plants got some pretty serious nutrient stress (cal/mag overdose, specifically) so I’m thinking that was the reason…unless it’s genetic somehow
